Rob Hawkings is a semi-retired Registered Psychotherapist and consultant currently in private practice in Canada, in Mississauga in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario. Rob has provided treatment for men suffering from addiction and childhood trauma for 30 years, during which he has worked in hospital settings and mental health clinics as well as in private practice. While working as a Program Development Specialist from 2000 to 2005 at Bellwood Health Services, an in-patient addiction treatment facility in Toronto, his principal responsibilities were development of treatment programs for recovering sexual addicts and concurrent substance dependency and PTSD treatment programs for military members and veterans. Rob’s principal sub-specialty through his career in private practice has been individual and group therapy with adult male survivors of childhood sexual abuse. He has designed, led and supervised several agency-sponsored group treatment programs for adult male sexual abuse survivors, and has served as Clinical Consultant in the preparation of Opening the Door: A Treatment Model for Therapy With Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse (by Adrienne Crowder, MSW; published by the National Clearinghouse on Family Violence and by Brunner/Mazel). Rob has also recently served as Clinical Consultant to the Fireweed Project (for the Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre of Nipissing, Ontario) in preparing and presenting a group therapy model, manual and training workshop for front-line service providers who work with male survivors in remote Northern Ontario communities. From 2009 to 2016, Rob was a member of the Therapist/Facilitator Team of the Weekends of Recovery Program sponsored by MaleSurvivor.
