ATSA is an international organization focused specifically on the prevention of sexual abuse through effective management of sex offenders.

  • Operation Camelot - believes that abusers of women and children must receive the most severe penalties the law will allow. They seek the death penalty for murderers and have declared war on rapists.

  • South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault - SCCADVASA is a statewide nonprofit organization addressing the critical needs of victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

  • Stop It Now! - STOP IT NOW! VERMONT is a new media and outreach campaign designed to prevent the sexual abuse of children. This approach has never been tried in the United States; we are asking abusers to stop the abuse. Our ads and public service announcements will reach out to abusers and their families and let them know that they can change and help to stop the cycle of abuse.

  • Stop Prisoner Rape, Inc. (SPR) - SPR is a small but growing national non-profit organization dedicated to combatting the rape of male and female prisoners and providing such assistance as they can to survivors of jailhouse rape.

  • Voices of Incest - non-profit organization meeting needs of adults molested as children. Provides provide all day workshops, weekly group therapy, and referral services.

  • Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault programs , WCSAP - dedicated to uniting agencies engaged in eliminating sexual violence, through education, advocacy, victim services, and social change.

  • Women Escaping A Violent Environment, Inc. (WEAVE) - non-profit agency specializing in domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and victim assistance.

  • Administration for Children and Families - The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is the agency within the Department of Health and Human Services that brings together the broad range of Federal programs and services that address the needs of children and families.

  • Children's Bureau - The Children's Bureau is the oldest Federal agency specifically charged with the responsibility of looking after the well-being of the Nation's children. The Bureau helps the States to deliver child welfare services, such as the protection of children and the strengthening of families (child protective services), family preservation and support, foster care, adoption, and independent living.

  • Department of Health and Human Services - The principal Federal agency for protecting the health of and providing fundamental services for Americans (especially for those least able to help themselves), the Department of Health and Human Services is the largest funder of Federal grants, awarding approximately 60,000 grants per year. The Department is responsible for operating 300 programs, which are administered by 11 divisions. Among these divisions is the Administration for Children and Families.

  • Knowledge Exchange Network Web Page - The Knowledge Exchange Network (KEN) provides information on mental health services, programs provided by the Center for Mental Health Services, consumer and survivor information, searchable databases, and a kids corner. It also offers information on Federal grants, conferences, and other events. KEN is available to users of mental health services and their families, the general public, policy makers, providers, and the media. It is sponsored by the Center for Mental Health Services, a service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

  • National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) - One of the largest Federal clearinghouses and the world's largest resource for information and materials on substance abuse, the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) is the information arm of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (Department of Health and Human Services). Services offered by NCADI include: an information services staff to respond to public inquiries on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD); distribution of over 450 free or low-cost materials on ATOD, such as fact sheets, posters, monographs, and video tapes; referrals to prevention, intervention, and treatment resources; access to the Prevention Materials and the Treatment Resources Databases; and Federal grant announcements for ATOD-related projects.

  • National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) - National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Web site, Justice Information Center (JIC), for a collection of clearinghouses providing information on criminal and juvenile justice issues. The categories offered are: Corrections, Courts, Crime Prevention, Criminal Justice Statistics, Drugs and Crime, International, Juvenile Justice, Law Enforcement, Research and Evaluation, and Victims. In addition, JIC offers New This Week and Current Highlights pages.

  • National Maternal & Child Health Clearinghouse (NMCHC) - Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Maternal and Child Bureau, a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services , the National Maternal & Child Health Clearinghouse (NMCHC) has a wealth of information in its publications catalog available by mail, phone, fax, or online. This catalog is a record of clearinghouse publications as well as those from outside sources. An integral part of the clearinghouse is the National Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Resource Center.

  • National Child Welfare Resource Center on Legal and Judicial Issues - The Center, operated by the ABA Center on Children and the Law, provides expertise to clients on legal aspects of child welfare, including court improvement, agency and court collaboration, timely decisions on termination of parental rights, non-adversarial case resolution, reasonable efforts requirements, legal representation of children, permanent guardianship, confidentiality, and other emerging child welfare issues.
  • National Resource Center for Information Technology in Child Welfare Services - Site under Development - The National Resource Center for Information Technology in Child Welfare Services , helps agencies, and family and juvenile courts use automated information systems to improve outcomes in the child welfare system and to improve administration of federally funded programs for children and youth in the system. The Center helps clients collect data (as required by Federal law) for the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS), the Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information Systems (SACWIS), and the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS). Moreover, the center helps its clients understand how to use the data to improve services to children and youth, evaluate results, and make informed decisions about programs and practices.

  • National Resource Center for Organizational Improvement - Working to improve the management, operations, organizational capacity, and service integration of other organizations, the National Resource Center for Organizational Improvement offers on-site technical assistance and a clearinghouse of print, audio, and visual materials.

  • National Resource Center for Youth Development - The National Resource Center for Youth Development supports the efforts of States, tribes, and agencies to place youth in permanent homes or prepare them for independent living after they "age out" of the child welfare system. These youths, as a whole, face an array of interrelated problems, such as personal or family histories of physical, sexual, or substance abuse; criminal behavior; and school failure. The Center helps agencies do a better job of (1) coordinating services to meet these complex needs and (2) providing developmentally appropriate services to youth.

  • National Resource Center on Family Centered Practice (NRCFCP) - Site Under Development - The National Resource Center for Family Centered Practice (NRCFCP) helps child welfare agency managers and staff translate the tenets of the Adoption and Safe Families Act into family-centered practices that ensure the well-being and permanent placement of children while meeting the needs of families. It also provides other organizations with technical assistance, staff training, research, and information on Family-based programs and issues throughout the county. This organization is also involved in outreach projects, such as the Family Resource Center in Cedar Rapids that was founded on the "patch approach" of service and community.

  • Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC) - The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children is a uniform state law that establishes a contract among party States to ensure that children placed across state lines receive adequate protection and services. The primary function of the ICPC is to protect the interests of children and of states by requiring that certain procedures are followed in making and maintaining the interstate placement of children going into adoption, residential care or foster family homes, or being placed with relatives.

  • Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance (ICAMA) - The Association of Administrators of the Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance facilitates the administration of, and advocates state participation in, the Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance. ICAMA is the legal mechanism by which member states regulate and coordinate the interstate delivery of services to children with special needs adopted pursuant to adoption assistance agreements. The Association provides technical and legal assistance, education and training, and materials on practice and policy issues.

  • National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect - The mission of the National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect is to facilitate the secondary analysis of research data relevant to the study of child abuse and neglect. The Archive's primary activity is the acquisition, preservation, and dissemination of high-quality data sets related to the study of child abuse and neglect. Their Web site provides a listing and brief description of all the studies in the Archive along with ordering information. Information on Archive publications and upcoming training institutes and workshops is also offered.

  • American Humane Association - The mission of the American Humane Association, as a network of individuals and organizations, is to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect and exploitation of children and animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively, and humanely guaranteed by an aware and caring society.

  • American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC) - Working to ensure that the best possible professional help is given to everyone affected by child maltreatment, the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC) publishes two periodicals, the APSAC Advisor , a news journal, and Child Maltreatment , a practice oriented journal. Other publications include guidelines for practice, several books, fact sheets, and letters to editors. Services include professional education, development of a national network of chapters, and a Legislation List Serv.

  • Childhelp USA - Incorporating research, treatment, and prevention under the umbrella of one organization, Childhelp USA focuses on the many faces of child abuse, from personal suffering to legal battles. Programs include the National Child Abuse Hotline, Residential Treatment Facilities in both California and Virginia, Children's Advocacy Centers, a Children's Center, Foster Care and Group Homes, and increasing education, community outreach, and public awareness.

  • Children's Defense Fund - Concentrating on the needs of poor and minority children and those with disabilities, the Children's Defense Fund stresses the importance of preventative investment of children.   • Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) - An association of nearly 1,000 public and private non-profit agencies, the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) is the largest publisher of child welfare materials including general trade books, child advocacy books, the Child Welfare journal, and the Children's Voice magazine. Among its various programs are those advocating kinship care, protecting America's children, and setting standards for child welfare services.

  • HandsNet - Creating information sharing and online collaboration for use by the human services community, HandsNet services include training, classes, workshops, seminars, and the Webclipper, and online networking system that tracks any given topic daily. The goal of this organization is to create and efficient timesaving tool geared toward keeping professionals informed on what is happening in the world of human services.

  • Office of Minority Health Resource Center - The Office of Minority Health Resource Center serves as a national resource and referral service on minority health issues. The center collects and distributes information on a wide variety of health topics, including substance abuse, cancer, heart disease, violence, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and infant mortality. The Resource Center also facilitates the exchange of information on minority health issues.

  • National Association of Counsel for Children - Dedicated to the protection and representation of children in the legal system, the National Association of Counsel for Children is a non-profit organization involved in the training and educating of professionals (attorneys, judges, social workers), working with children. Projects include the National Children's Law Resource Center, The Guardian , a quarterly newsletter, and the Speaker's Bureau.

  • National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) - Voicing concerns about parenting, child health care, education, and public policy, the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) publishes several pamphlets and magazines and works to influence policymakers. Strengthened by local affiliates nationwide, NBCDI has a strong core of committed volunteers. Annual conferences and the African American Early Childhood Leadership Resource Center are also headed by this organization.

  • National Self-Help Clearinghouse - Created to improve the accessibility of self-help groups and to stress the value and importance of mutual support, the National Self-Help Clearinghouse aids human service agencies in adding self-help principles to their practices. The clearinghouse also conducts training activities, provides consultation, facilitates research, provides information and referral services, and is involved with media outreach and several publications.

  • National Indian Child Welfare Association - The National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) serves American Indian tribes throughout the country by helping to strengthen and enhance their capacity to deliver quality child welfare services. Among the activities in which NICWA engages are community development, public policy development, and information exchange.

  • PAVNET Online - Pavnet Online is an interagency, electronic resource on the Internet created to provide information about effective violence prevention initiatives. This "virtual library" on violence and youth at risk is designed to give States and local communities a single searchable resource for relevant data from seven Federal agencies.

  • Prevent Child Abuse America - Started in 1972 as a means of increasing public knowledge and awareness of child abuse, Prevent Child Abuse America (formerly the National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse ) has grown to encompass many areas of prevention work, including media campaigns and local chapter development. The current focus on the Healthy Families America is initiative is working to increase the educational and support services available to new parents.
