We are all Glad you are here, Glad you are seeing a Therapist (or "T" as we refer to them), We hope for the best for you here.
I am gay, I live out in the open with my sexuality, I don't hide it. I also support gay rights for GLBT everywhere.
It doesn't bother me that you objected to being called gay, I object to it when people assume I am straight.
These men and myself have worked hard to accept our reality of abuse, and to recover from the self blame and pain we have experienced in our lives....it doesn't matter who you prefer to have sex with, these efforts and milestones of recovery are UNIVERSAL regardless of sexual identity, preference, gender, or class.
My heart goes out to you because of the intense betrayal of your ex girlfriend. Any intimacy must be accompanied by some level of risk, but it hurts just the same when we are rejected/betrayed. KNOW THIS--her attempt to hurt you has failed. Your friends know that you are who you are. We know who you are, and we are proud of your straight identity, just as we are proud of those of us who have to deal with same sex attraction.
