my feel-good habit was kind of weird for a kid my age in the day that i grew up. i'd go to flea markets and antiques shops to collect stuff. one of my favorites was 78 rpm records. i had found an old wind-up gramophone and it was lots of fun - not hi-tech at all! that was part of its charm - seemed really ancient to me. i loved finding the classics from the swing era and earlier - glenn miller, ink spots, etc. the records were cheap and easily enough found - but the really good ones more hard to find so that it was a bit of a challenge. i had a friend who shared this quirk and we could go on hunting expeditions together.
We are often troubled, but not crushed;
sometimes in doubt, but never in despair;
there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend;
and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.
- Paul, II Cor 4:8-9
