Why do I pretend to be what I am not,
continually wrestling with the thought.

No one sees the reality in me,
I show them what they want me to be.

Walls surround my guarded past,
protecting me beneath a mask.

Openings now are shut so tight,
that’s how I make it thru this fight.

Looking back I understand,
why I falter as a man.

When they took I did not know,
my life would stop and barely grow.

So many years have wasted away,
I’m trying now to find my way.
