Dragon Boy,

By the way, LOVE The name, I too was inspired by The grand Mythical Flying Serpents!! On to your comment, You say that people are using the GLBTQ Acronym to mean "gay" and your point is that many Trans people are straight.

If you review the original posting, (shown here in part for clarity)

29.I do not have to worry about telling my roommate about my sexuality. It is assumed I am a heterosexual.
30.I can remain oblivious of the language and culture of LGBTQ folk without feeling in my culture any penalty for such oblivion.
31.I can go for months without being called straight.
32.I’m not grouped because of my sexual orientation.

You might notice the speaker or writer's point of view is as a STRAIGHT person. Litererally it says that ....AS A STRAIGHT PERSON I can remain oblivious of the language and the culture of LGBTQ folk without feeling in my culture any penalty for such oblivion. It doesn't matter if I understand it or not. -----If you follow through to a gay person's point of view, you get this message:

AS A Gay person I have to be aware of the culture and language in use by LGBTQ Folk or I FEEL PENALIZED and EXCLUDED for my ignorance. I may not know the common denominators by which future friends, possible lovers, or even mates will judge whether or not I am "one of them".

Having stated all that, I submit that the meaning is not that Trans people are lumped into the same group as Gay people....The POINT is that STRAIGHT PEOPLE ARE NOT DISCRIMINATED AGAINST For their lack of knowledge of culture and language...they are accepted in every circle regardless of not understanding pop culture references that other straights identified with.

If you think that Trans Gender Straight persons don't have to understand pop culture references, language, and be able to navigate subtle shades of meaning then I think you are mistaken. It isn't the acronym that is to blame for the inclusion of the Trans world with the Gay world, it is that the straight world discriminates against you.

We are brothers whether you are straight or not..Whether you desire to be so or not....what remains is knowing that they will band together to hate us, will we join them? Or will we strive to be open, inclusive, non-judgemental, and love others as we desire to be loved.

For my part, I love you. Even if you don't agree. I just wanted to explain what I thought to be true.

Geoff
