I don't think I ever really played again after the age of about 5/6. I remember trying to participate in games at school, but it was like acting - It was all fake, even laughing...

I bet you remember pressure to "be happy....act happy...smile more...get out there and have fun."

FK I hated those little pushes to go be a real boy!!!!

I guess I went to the opposite end of the spectrum. I always tended to be the daydreaming kid who plotted and schemed up things to do. Tom Sawyer has nothing on me.

I always kept busy with unstructured things AND sports. The more I did, the more I forgot.

Now that I have kids, I encourage them to play, to imagine and live as kids should live----protected and safe---but not fearful of the world beyond.

Damn. That's difficult.

I never had a treehouse cept for an OLD one left behind DEEP in the woods by an older generation...probably the 1950.

So I built my kid one bitchin treehouse on our land (before I was tossed out). The kids loved it. I always figured "no rural childhood is complete withouta treehouse."

Then my daughter said (recently) "no childhood is complete without a dog...so now I have Skip.

Maybe part of the difference is CSA at 13 versus CSA at a younger age.

Love the treehouse.
