I have been on this site for a while now, i have gotten great help and support. But I believe there needs to be more discussion about the topic of sex addiction. People dont even realize they have this problem, and the longer it goes the more devastating it is to the person and their families.

Sex addiction has devastating effects: |

www.sexhelp.com/sast.cfm

most sex addicts - greater than 80% were abused as kids, other things that contribute are lack of nuturing, adult child of an alcoholic, and adhd among others

I have talke to people in chat and they dont even realize this it happening to them. I wish i had information sooner. I can never get that all back, i urge everyone to take this test, it should be required for entry to this site. cry

Hello 1life,

These are some excellent resources. There have been many studies conducted in the area of sexual addiction. The scientific community is now realizing that childhood trauma causes "injury" to certain parts of the brain. I use quotation marks because the injury can be rehabilitated and healed.

I am working on overcoming my sex addiction, and restoring a healthy view of sex and sexuality. It's not easy but it can be done. I have mentioned in another post that I am a member of Candeo. It is a paying service designed to help those who suffer from sex addiction. There are 12 step programs out there and therapists who specialize in this kind of thing.

Good post 1life. This topic needs some attention. My hope is that it can help some here at MS with their recovery. Heal well brothers.

Cheers,

Daniel

Some of those questions are pretty weak tea.

"Are there parts of your sexual behavior that you only engage in in private? Have you bought porno magazines? Do you look at Internet porn?" should not be listed alongside "Are you a prostitute?" and "Have you ever fucked a child?".

Likewise, "engaging in sadomasichism" is entirely healthy sexual behavior between consenting adult partners and not uncommon.

I dunno, it all seems a bit "sex-negative" to me.
