Thanks BlueSky and Traveler for your contributions.

The 25-year anniversary of the Rhythm Nation album was in the news recently, and here is one song that speaks to the innocence of children, and how they get corrupted so often. While this song is 25 years old, it still rings true today.

Maybe not the best connection, but I definitely relate to the lyrics of this song when I've been struggling through things with effort. this week's struggle isn't so much about CSA, but it has definitely applied to that before for me.

"I Don't Wanna Fight" sung by Tina Turner

There's a pale moon in the sky
The kind you make your wishes on
Like the light in your eyes
The one I built my dreams upon
It's not there any longer
Something happened somewhere
And we both know why
But me, I'm getting stronger
We must stop pretending
I can't live this life

I don't care who's wrong or right
I don't really want to fight no more (Too much talking babe)
Let's sleep on it tonight
I don't really want to fight no more (This is time for letting go)

I hear a whisper in the air
It simply doesn't bother me
Can't you see that I don't care
Or are you you looking right through me
Seems to me that lately
You look at me the wrong way and I start to cry
Could it be that maybe
This crazy situation is the reason why

I don't care who's wrong or right
I don't reaaly want to fight no more (Too much talking babe)
Let's sleep on it tonight
I don't really want to fight no more (Tired of all these games)
But baby don't you know
That I don't want to hurt no more (It's time, I'm walking babe)
Don't care now who's to blame
I don't really want to fight no more (This is time for letting go)

Hanging on to the past
It only stands in our way
We had to grow for our love to last
But we just grew apart
No, I don't want to hurt no more

But baby don't you know
No I don't want to hurt no more (Too much talking babe)
Don't care now who's to blame
I don't really want to fight no more (Tired of all these games)
I don't care who's wrong or right
I don't really want to fight no more (It's time, I'm walking babe)
So let's sleep on it tonight
I don't really want to fight no more (This is time for letting go)

Smashing Pumpkins "Disarm"
This song, this album was such a part of the soundtrack of my college days. The lyrics are dark, but encouraging as Billy Corgan breaks the cycle of abuse "with a smile."

Will

Disarm you with a smile
And cut you like you want me to
Cut that little child
Inside of me and such a part of you
Ooh, the years burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my choice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

Disarm you with a smile
And leave you like they left me here
To wither in denial
The bitterness of one who's left alone
Ooh, the years burn
Ooh, the years burn, burn, burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my voice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you

Corgan is one of my favorite people on Earth.

Incubus: "Drive"
Back when the song was released, it hit me at just the right time. After a few years of post-college doldrums (and some pretty stupid csa-driven behavior), I was ready to take the wheel again; I was ready to drive and not be driven.
