From (literally) just around the block from me… The Indigo Girls

"Closer to Fine" (1989)

I'm trying to tell you somethin' about my life
Maybe give me insight between black and white
And the best thing you've ever done for me
Is to help me take my life less seriously
It's only life after all, yea

Well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear
And I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it
I'm crawling on your shores

And I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive

Closer I am to fine

And I went to see the doctor of philosophy
With a poster of Rasputin and a beard down to his knee
He never did marry or see a B grade movie
He graded my performance, he said he could see through me
I spent four years prostrate to the higher mind
Got my paper and I was free

And I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive

Closer I am to fine

I stopped by the bar at three a.m.
To seek solace in a bottle or possibly a friend
And I woke up with a headache like my head against the board
Twice as cloudy as I'd been the night before
And I went in seeking clarity

I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
And we go to the doctor, we go to the mountains
We look to the children, we drink from the fountains
Yea we go to the bible, we go through the workout
We read up on revival, we stand up for the lookout
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
The less I seek my source for some definitive

Closer I am to fine

My child was taught, you can trust in adults
and then the mistake, that they trust everyone.
And now (he’s) tortured and abused by those uncles
and it doesn’t matter whether (it’s) a young girl,
because with young boys they do it also.

One evening my child did not come home
and I imagined already the worst things.
Each second that elapsed coldly on the clock
took the color from my face.

The adrenaline spread through my body.
Dear God, come home, for heaven’s sake it's long past time.
You feel lifeless, numb, the heart heavy
and tears, you no longer feel for hours already.

We hate child molesters, no matter where you are.
Once there you stand before the high court.
We hate child molesters, and they will catch you.
Only then, do not expect mercy.

The night was damp and ice-cold.
Someone found our child there in the dense forest.
We drove off, unable to respond.
You are oblivious to it, cannot understand it.

Someone left us to wait in front of the barricade.
We should probably not watch this horror.
I scream out full throated, “Why have you done this”?
After that I fell whimpering into the arms of my husband.

weil doch irgendwann mal jemand was tun muss!

Of the offender, (he’s) missing still no trace
and, therefore, hear my vow!
We have to do something, because that’s enough already,
because, eventually someone has to do something!

He took everything from us in his sick mania.
For us no mercy and no compassion.
Torn apart by the faithful, hatred in the face,
that you live each day, that I do not grant to you!!

I wish for you Hell , running the gauntlet.
And someday, somebody finally stops you.
With your sick mania, your poison in the body.
I wish you eternal damnation.

NordFront - Warum?

in diesem Leben hast du verloren,

in diesem Leben hast du verloren,
drum fordern wir für alle Länder:
Todesstrafe für Kinderschänder!
Für eure Taten sollt ihr büßen,
ihr sollt euer Leben nie wieder genießen,
die Erfahrung zeigt, dass Therapien nichts nützen,
nur euer Tod kann Kinder schützen!

english translation :

It happens in many a dark night ,
another girl is brought to sleep,
the mother, she is not at home,
that attracts dad from daughter.

She is weak, can not defend itself ,
she is forced to deal with him ,
only her screams echo through the night ,
they do not know why he does it with her.

As a pervert you were born,

in this life you lost ,
therefore we ask for all countries:
Death penalty for child molesters !
For your deeds you shall atone ,
you shall never enjoy your life again ,
Experience shows that therapies are useless
only your death can protect children!

The child hears footsteps and the door opens
And again the daddy lies down on top of the daughter ,
she wishes she 'd never been born ,
she feels alone , feels lost .

For them, it is the greatest torment,
he says that makes everyone who is normal ,
so they can endure it about himself ,
but still, they can not understand it .

As a pervert you were born,

in this life you lost ,
therefore we ask for all countries:
Death penalty for child molesters !
For your deeds you shall atone ,
you shall never enjoy your life again ,
Experience shows that therapies are useless
only your death can protect children!

i like the german group TOXOPLASMA.

then there was EXTRABREIT.

i have a great german punk rock and metal vinyl collection from the 1980's. i lived in germany a few times.

the first time i ever went to germany was way back in the 1976 year. there was a pop band that was big with the german kids at the time which i did not like but i could never forget..

meanwhile...
i went to cologne to see black sabbath, acdc, and this german band called eloy.
john mclaughlin and chakti were on the bill which was not a good mix because the rowdy racist crowd booed them off the stage. when they stormed off... one of the rockers came out and scolded the crowded into apologizing and applauding them back onto the stage. then all of a sudden the crowd said they were excellent and clapped for encore.

"ZUGABE! ZUGABE!"

weird experience.

i ended up buying "birds of fire" after that show.
but the big thrill for me was seeing sabbath with ozzy live on the technical ecstasy tour. in 1977.

i did not see the band back together with the original lineup again until 1999 22 YEARS LATER when i got to work with them at thunderbird stadium right here in vancouver.

sweet |!

This song was played at the Alta retreat this fall. It reminds me of how I want to be in this moment. If I breathe I am here if I breathe I am alive.
