Tony Blair, soon to be ex prime minister of the U.K. Government made a complete gaff.

He said that modern science can predict a problem child before they are born, or in nursery.
One only needs to guess at his modern scientific approach to progeny.

Can he, for example, know if the child is going to abused in life?
Is he saying that a child in an abusive family will eventually abuse?

I dont suppose he is going to let us in on his little secret!

After lobbying the Government ministers for years on social issues, it smacks me in the face, that they are trying to use science to predict the life of a given child in parenthood.

Its a bit like saying, OK, the father was abused, so he will ultimately abuse his own kids, get it right Blair, but your latest outburst takes you out of office,

I didn't catch that comment, but I wonder if he had the genome project in mind and thus was thinking in terms of medical science alone. That was a problem when I was teaching medical history in London. So many professional audiences were interested in the scientific aspects only and had no clue about the importance of the social aspects.

Blair is on his way out, but notice how much he is saying "we must listen to the people".
EXACTLT! Its the people who want him out for not listening.

He, and his ministers are lobbied by people in the know about social issues.
What does he do? He makes out that bad kids can be spotted in the nursery, a bit like, they are born bad.

After spending billions on computers that dont work, and burying the project.
The public has had enough of all the cuts to essential services to pay for a war that was never needed.
