Read it here.

As I listen to the news bleating about how overcrowded the jails are, then I often wonder whether judges have to give lenient sentences out.

It can be the only explanation in this case, the beast got one year in prison, ten years on the register.

Why didnt the judge make orders banning him from associating with kids, and put him on the register for life.

You can guess the judge thought the boy was complicit in what happened to him

Our sentancing guidelines are truely pathetic as is our judicial system and Home Secretary.

I think we really are back to a fundamental problem: the judicial system lacks any genuine understanding of the impact of CSA. That in turn means that we do have to speak up whenever possible. We can't expect success instantly and in many cases we will be ignored, but I do think the effort has to be made.

Much love,
Larry

Jacob,

the analogy is, if I steal your car wreck it and burn it out, you would be furious.
The guy who did it gets years in prison.
But you will get compensated for the loss of car.

You wont have to live in trauma for the rest of your life because of the event.

Turn that around, and a perp gets weeks in jail for causing childhood trauma!
Little or no compensation.

The world is MAD!

do you think they would understand the impact if we just start blowing the perps away ,that would solve the overpopulation problems in our prisons. an eye for an eye works for me shadow

If you go back to the original story in the thread, it was about a boy who has been assaulted from 13/18yo. A period of five years.

He even denied it up until they were ready to go to trial by jury.
Then he gets a judicial summary of one year in jail.

The thing that gets to me, is that the boy must have somehow been held to be complicit.
Why did you go back! etc....

If he had done that to a girl he would be on a very long stretch indeed.

Where this boy will end up is anyones guess, he will probably end up getting a few years for prostitution or drugs.

The reason I posted it was because of the vast differences in sentencing involving abuse of male children and against female girls.

Wake up world!

Jacob,

Sadly, there it is in a nutshell. You are probably right.

Jacob, and all, I maybe going to shock you on what I am about to say, but listen carefully to it.

I dont think that the downloading of images should be a major issue in cracking down on pedophiles, I know it sounds controversial, but just listen to what I have to say.

It is an easy crime to just go and get the ppl who do it, but it is immensely difficult to prove computer crime in a Court of law.
If however there is evidence of distribution to another, it becomes far more serious a crime.

Paying for it also keeps up the cycle of abuse, because it would not pay them to make the filth in the first place.

Unfortunately law enforcers just wade into a 'soft' target, to get statistics to say they are doing something about child abuse, when a lot of the time, they are just wasting money.

It is so hard to enforce 'thought' crime in society, but it does produce statistics.
Then you get cases of actual abuse which are judicially sentenced through the judges directions.

Again it is about money, and getting another case off the books.
Unfortunately we see time and time again, abusers getting little or no sentence based on the heinous crimes they committed.

Historic abuse seems to verge on the issue of, but, how does it now hurt you!
They see the plaintiff putting such a brave face on in the Court.

The Judge never sees the little boy inside the man who is squirming all his life from abuse.
He cannot ever be aware of just how hard it is to live with the stigma of being different through no fault of his own.

Whether it is historic or not, all of those kids who are now men, want closure of events.
They want a clear message to be sent out to all who abuse kids, that when you are caught, you will suffer greatly for taking away a childs life.

Put the millstone around their necks, not ours.
If I put myself back at around 11yo and I read of some of the cases that go to Court, I would be terrified to testify.

Why? Because I would think one thing!
OK, I testify, he gets a few months, then comes looking for me for telling.

Get the picture!

Jacob,

the simple answer is statistics.
Anything of this nature comes under the common heading of child abuse, even though it may not be directly linked.

It can make government figures "look good".
People love figures, Governments roll in them.
It does not show the real figures on tackling abuse, it is distortion.

Its pot luck on the sentencing, especially with overcrowded jails full of homeless, druggies and petty criminals.
Why not give them an amnesty so they can show more hospitality to the perps.

On the issue of catching the porn makers, some countries have already clamped down, but others are out of reach of legislation, including china etc.

The internet world of abuse will get far worse before getting better.
You dont even have to go looking for child porn, it is littered through every newsgroup.

Even when downloading mp3s I have to use blocking filters to block it out, and then they use different words so its back again.
