Cleveland man Carl Geddes, Jr, 33, has been convicted twice for molesting children. After "getting out", it seemed as if he had finally gotten the message and was trying to put his life back together. He even went to the Cleveland Public Library to use their computers to prepare a resume.

After he was done printing a few copies of his resume, he decided he had some spare time. So, knowing where such things are found I suppose, he used the internet computers to download and print out a rather sizeable amount of graphic child pornography.

Taking this material to the restroom, I suppose he satisfied whatever he had a hankering for. Afterwards, he threw the whole set of pages into the wastebasket and walked out. Trouble was, he accidentally left one of the copies of his resume in amongst the offending material. A janitor called the cops, the cops found the resume, and Mr Geddes, Jr, was duly busted.

He pled guilty, hoping for leniency - some kind of deal. Deciding that this twice-convincted predator was obviously not going to change, the trial judge threw the book - and desk, and chair, and probably the gavel, too - at him. Sentence: 30 YEARS!!!!

Just a footnote, the judge should not use cases to further her political career, and should not be able to enter politics.

Now, most people here know that one thing I absolutely despise is people who insist that child pornography is "just pictures", a victimless crime, or some other form of "it's not that serious an offense" marginalization.

Still, I will say that I do think it's a shame that somebody who downloads that material from the internet can get 30 years in prison, while somebody who actually molests or rapes a child will only get 3 or 4. Suspended.

The article does not say how much prison time this man got for his two previous molestation offenses; however, I'd be willing to bet that this latest conviction has him sentenced to more time than both of those earlier convictions put together. If that's what he referred to as "ridiculous", then I'll actually agree with him: he should've spent way more time in prison than he did for those first two convictions.

Great story. Would have been funnier if he had sent his resume to a company with one of those pictures stapled to it. Dumb perp.

he got a great job out of it.
He is a cell inspector for the feds, no pay, but a roof over his head, and food, no bills or stuff like that.

The janitor sent his resume with all those pics to the feds to help him find that job.

It sounds like this guy got hit so hard because it was his third offense. Certainly he gets the dumb perp award. A copy of his resume left in with the porn? I bet the other inmates in his cell block will love that story.
