I read about this case some time ago where the "recorder" who should have known better, banned the newspapers from naming these perps.

Protecting an army major from being named smacks of the old boy network, dont you think.

Most judges come from the same background, but now they have been named and shamed.

Most if not of our judges attended Public School when "Fagging" was still the norm. Personally I think a lot of them are locked into that mindest of "Well it didnt do me any harm" and "Take it like a man" that they cannot see through thier own denial. Is it any coincidence that none of them have publicly announced that they were abused whilst at school. Shame is a great silencer of not only us but of Judges, Politicians and others with a large public profile. By judges not acknowledging their own abuse they are doing the survivor a great diservice. Denial.

In this debate at Westminster that I have suggested. I have asked my MP to ask one question on my personal behalf, that question is "How many of us in Parliament have suffered sexual abuse as a child? If your answer to that is a positive, can I ask another question? Why have you not told anyone?

My guess the answer will be shame, but at least it would have got those who have been abused to start thinking.

And that is all I ask of them ....... To start thinking.

funnily enough I was thinking the same thing about Judges, and yes they went to public schools where most of it goes on like it is normal.

In the public schools, bullies pick on the easier targets while the others either turn a blind eye, or worse, they think it is part of initiation, or growing up.

The debate in parliament will yield little until we use our voice like Shy does.
It would cost billions to compensate us, when you take into account all that we have lost.

If you go through any trauma incident, you are compensated and given help because the public cries out for it.

Is it not time for the abused of which there are many to inform the public that we too need compensation.

Totally agree but we cant let Shy do it on her own. I spoke with her yestarday and today, she is mentally and physically knackered. As for the debate yielding little that will be down to the likes of us to make sure it does yield something. That is why it is so important that as many of us as possible can attend the debate itself and lobby our individual MP's.

Individually we cant achieve much but together we can show them that if they dont start to listen to us there are going to be a lot of lost votes and every politician does not like losing votes.

My wife said to me last night that me and Shy are very much alike in as much that we are both bloody minded, obsessed and stubborn and both of us wont let go of this "subject", (as one of Tony Blairs comuncation officers said to me in an acknowledgment letter, that subject being CSA).

Its going to take time, but I have plenty of that as I now cannot work, politicians only have four years and we can acomplish a lot in four years.

As for compensation we wont get compensated for what we have been through it would bankrupt the country, we get a pittance from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and that is the way society and goverment recognise what we have been wronged. Compensation would be nice but I am not doing this for that I am doing it for the survivors of the future so they dont have to go through the mental turmoil that we have been through, at the very least we can give those future survivors the tools to deal with the legion of effects we suffer from, the younger the better.

Of course they could not compensate us.
I would ask for one thing only, and that is, that they just listen.

If a kid is abused today in 2006, he will not get the necessary specialist support to help him live an ordinary adult life.

I know this to be fact not fiction.
We need more help when we ask for it, we should not have to pay for meds either.

Why should the abused have to pay for being abused.

Ask the MPs that one to their faces, note their replies.

If I won the lottery, I would gladly give it to anybody who could have given me my childhood back.

It is not about money, it is about listening to those who cry out in all the hurt, and I do not know how Shy has so much courage, but it is not hard to find what drives her, nor me or you.

We can fight only to the point of being listened to and validated, which sadly does not happen,

Already have asked my MP that in so many words he couldnt reply. Dont worry the people that come to Westminster will be primed with that exact question. And MP's replies will be noted.
