Song among the branches,
In the bramble beneath.
A minnow chorus turns as one,
In unison nips the surface.

Fins weave just above the clouds.
Leaves sparkle with sloughed-off scales.
Swallows draw arabesques beneath the waves,
Feathers settle in the sand.

I sit within the grass and trillium,
Bumblebee crawls out beside me,
We watch the stars dance around us,
We are content and openhearted.

Sometimes, things just won't work the way we want them to.
