the ones i write through my own tears are the ones that help the most.

daddy checked the closet
daddy checked under the bed
daddy told me every night
the monsters were all in my head

daddy never realized
no need to check no more
daddy let the monster in
right through our front door

why couldn't you see him daddy
why couldn't you protect me
why'd you let the monster in
so he could come get me

my actions spoke louder than words
but those words were never heard
daddy i can't trust anyone now
no-one in this world

daddy why didn't you see my fear
or hear my silent screams
why didn't you protect your son
from this monster that got to me

years gone by and daddy's right
the monster's in my head
he haunts me every moment
he makes my heart feel dead

daddy i'm so sorry
it wasn't your fault at all
you couldn't recognize the monster
in that crafty camoflauge

i'm sorry that i acted out
i'm sorry that i cried
i'm sorry that i made you shout
when i stole and when i lied

you helped me when i needed
you taught many things
i'm proud to call you daddy
oh what joy it brings

your heart is good
and i always new
though you can be harsh sometimes
you love me more than you love you
i'm glad my daddy's mine

so daddy this is just for you
you never would have let him in
if you only knew
and daddy what i want to say is
daddy i love you

Brian - don't know if you've heard the John Lennon song 'Jealous Guy' - Lyrics are nothing like this, but when I read your poem, the tune popped into my head. Try playing it some time & put your words to the music.

*Stranger still - I don't think Lennon ever knew his dad!!??

Best wishes Rik

Thanks fellers for letting me be heard!

Rik, No I don't think I've ever heard that one. Sounds pretty interesting though. If anyone has a mp3 of it I would greatly appreciate if you could send it to me....send me a message.
