As I think of my upcoming drive to San Antonio, I have this daydream where I drive up to my old house, open the passenger door to my truck, and my 11yo self hops in. We make our final getaway from that old rotten place.
**********************************
I’ve been looking for you for many years I’ve been thinking of you with many tears. You’re a missing part of me that’s cool. A boy with a heart who was no fool.
I know you’re waiting for me there. I’m planning to come get you with great care. I’ll welcome you with open arms. Mark my words, I’ll do no harm.
I’ll be there soon, it won’t be long. When I arrive let’s sing a song. I’ll look at you with long lost joy. Here’s the plan, my long lost boy:
I’ll pull up in my big red truck. It’s tough and sturdy, it’s brings me luck. I’ll look for you from across the street. After all these years, we’ll finally meet.
Stand by the corner of the fence. Jump over as I call you hence. Come to me quick, and no time waste The car door will be open, so do make haste.
Once you’re in, close that door tight. Pretty soon we’ll be out of sight. Imagine, you and I together again Two long lost parts with so much to gain.
I think of you often as you wait in the yard You know I’ll come get you, though the wait is hard. You’re in my thoughts, my prayers, my heart. You’re special to me, a long lost part.

Andy, I think this is what Little Andy needs to hear. He needs to know that he's doing this - YOU have decided. But he also needs to feel safe and he needs to believe he is being led, not dragged. I think it comes down to this: I know you’re waiting for me there. I’m planning to come get you with great care. This will be a rough trip, but I hope it will be a healing one for you bro. Much love, Larry

I like that. Dealing with you wounded inner child. I still exist as that child every day. The idea of separation sounds like a major growth step, and that you're moving forward.

Andy,
That is so moving. I'm sitting here with tears on my cheeks. Thank-you for sharing it with us.
Lots of love,
John

Hey, Andy. After you pick up Little Andy, could you drop by and pick up Butch? He'll be sitting on the steps waiting for you. He really needs to get out of there, and I can't seem to get back there to get him. Just open the door and let him jump in, squeal those tires, and get the hell out of Dodge. Don't look back. That truck sounds like a warm and happy place! Thanks!

Andy, Thanks for sharing. This the second time I read this and I am just as moved by it this time. Stand by the corner of the fence. Jump over as I call you hence. Come to me quick, and no time waste The car door will be open, so do make haste.
To me, this conveys a sense of urgency. If you are anything like me, you had better find a place to pull over as soon as possible because I'd have to many tears in my eyes to see to drive. Love ya. Darrel
