Unseen Problems 9:42 AM
Unseen Problems
the ones in your head
the ones you can't see
the ones you can hear
like someone talking to themself
on a subway in tatered clothes
the child who screams for no reason
the person who drools from their medication
there are names for unseen disabilities, retard
pyscho, and worse
how can you see a damaged mind?
one that messes you up when you don't want it to
one that makes relationships disapear
it is hard to let others understand
when you can't always understand
what your mind does and why
The problem is in your head after all
and it is unseen until you do something
that makes it all too aparent you need help
a friend to understand
a family member to listen
a stranger to understand
a problem of the mind
chemical imbalance or faulty wiring
or we don't know why you are crazy
here take these meds you will be ok
a problem with no easy answer
a problem not always easy to see
the ones in your head
the ones you can't see
the ones you can hear
like someone talking to themself

Your right we can't see the problems in our heads. The only way to fix a broken mind is not with meds. That only covers the problem. We should talk about it with the people close to us.
I must apolgize if I misread your poem.

Michael, it is hard to let others understand when you can't always understand what your mind does and why So true. That's why we have to work on ourselves before we can hope to hold together relationships with others. Real communication begins with ourselves: "I am okay. I can do this. I did nothing wrong." Much love, Larry

pretending things are ok is what many survivors do including me and it has taken many years to work through most of this stuff.
It is easier to work on things, but what some dont realize is even if we keep things from everyone we are still working on them. Time is needed for healing and when we trust more or feel comfortable we are able to tell others.
That is what is so special about this place.

Michael,
I think you are so right. At the end of the day we have to communicate with others when and as we feel comfortable. Forcing the pace will just mess us up further.
Much love, Larry
