Hello again my new friends. It's been a long time since I've attempted anything like this but everyone here is inspiring me to move on. This poem is partly refelective, but also looking forward - I know it's not quite springtime yet, but let's have an early one this year.
The first winter I remember
Was through the eyes of a child
The fascinating magic snowstorms
Created by nature going wild
The wonderful glistening landscapes
Weaving their magical thread
A season that didn't last long
'til the birds broke into spring song
Another winter I now remember
Through the eyes of a child / man
The unspoken ultimate betrayal
And how it all began
The never ending thunderstorms
And lightning within my head
The dark days that last forever
Those things I wished for, never
Nature's winter will soon end again
Replaced by a glorious springtime
A land of freshness and vitality
A rebirth, another lifetime
Let us leave winter behind
Awake within us the dormant flower
Thaw that ice around your heart
Life and living we must take part
Once the spring thaw is set
We can leave the earths cover
Admire the beauty all around us
With the urgency of a new lover
We can begin to take this new chance
'til we bloom full in the summer
Majestically like those all around
Thankful for this chance, no longer bound
When our days then turn to autumn
We'll display the fruits of our lives
A life of which we have partaken
Like busy honey bees in hives
We may be much older now
Wrinkly and ruddy faced
Signs of a life lived well
Whilst our abusers rot in hell
I won't be afraid of my final winter
For It will be of old age
Unlike the long lost winter
When all I could muster was internal rage
Fading into the late autumn mist
Soon to meet those long gone
My epitaph 'He lived life to the full'
For it was a good life!
*That's brought tears to my eyes just reading back through it - hope it helps others. Take a chance with me and let's bloom more this year than we ever have before. Remember - roses thrive on ****.
*Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up.
*I was seeking a way of expressing my anger - I found hope!
