I wrote this awhile ago, while really confused, and just found it again, after I realized that I don't really know who I am, or what passions I have, funny how you find things like this when feeling it over again. And now that I feel like I'm not making much sense, I will leave you to the poem.

Where I Belong

The skyline so peaceful
Filled with tranquility
And beautiful colors intermingling
Becoming as one
THe sun shines bright
Illuminating the clouds from behind
Birds flying past
Searching for a nightime perch
Still I move on
Admiring the heavenly artwork above
For I must find my place
And where I belong

THe trees swaying
In the cool gentle breeze
Leaves slowly fluttering to the ground
Creating a carpet over the earth
As colorful as the sky above
I hear the rustling of leaves as I walk on
Searching in vain
For where I belong

THe waters so calm
Gently flowing
Over a million multi-colored pebbles
Glinting in the sun
The reeds wobble in the breeze
Making each whisper a symphony
Water happily moving
Not knowing a great waterfall is near
Perhaps I too am unaware
As I walk on the waters edge
Seeking where I belong

The mountains
Consumed by mist
Rising from the earth
In regal splendor
Standing tall
Defying the elements
THe only sound
THe gentle calling of the wild inhabitants
Grass growing tall and green
Spotted with flowers of every color ever seen
Rising to the snow-capped top
Blissfully unaware that any trouble may loom
Still I move on
Reluctantly leaving the majesty before me
But I must continue
To find Where I belong

Magnificent architecture
Scraping the clouds
Buildings that nearly touch the stars
Arches of golden wonder
And pillars of delicate marble
The creations of man
Standing tall and proud
A silent voice
Calling men were here
But still I wish to know
Where I belong

Skyline and forests
Waters and mountains
Even mankinds silent proclomations
Peacefully co-exist
Knowing what they are
But still I don't know
Where I belong

Scott

I am glad that you decided to share this here. It is beautiful, and meaningful, and I have saved it to be able to read again.

Scott,

This is wonderful. I feel that trying to find where I belong is a lot of what my recovery is about. Sometimes I think it was a mistake to walk on from the leaves and the mountains, but I didn't really belong there when I was there, and I know it.

Thanks for sharing this.

Joe

Scott,

That was beautiful.

How many of us really know how we are?
