I keep wondering How you could love A person like me So unconditionally Though the light blinds me I won't retreat back to my shadows Love floods my heart
You reached for me With outstretched hands And I shied away But you stayed waiting
You said take I'll lead you into the Future of your life I promise to show you your true self hidden deep inside let's Break away your shell Frightened I reached up for your hand
I keep wondering How you could love A person like me So unconditionally Though the light blinds me I won't retreat back to my shadows Love floods my heart
Slowly My eyes break free And then I blink Tears of joy away
Come and follow me you needn't fear What that might bring by your side I'll be Do you trust me you asked me so gently I smiled and took the chance With my heart still racing
The veil falls behind me The world's beneath me What is this This new thing that I'm feeling Though the light blinds me I won't retreat back to my shadows Courage fills my heart
Help me Find the meaning behind my feelings Though the fear holds so strong I have so much to learn but I know there's nothing to fear With you by my side
I keep wondering How you could love A person like me So unconditionally Though the light blinds me I won't retreat back to my shadows Love floods my heart
Help me Find the meaning behind my feelings Though the fear holds so strong I have so much to learn but I know there's nothing to fear With you by my side
Tell me What is the meaning of these feelings Have I done something wrong The tears fall my heart aches but there must be nothing wrong at all Because you're by my side

Jake that's wonderful, and so moving. Whoever you wrote that for is a lucky person. Lloydy

Damn Jake, this one hit so close to home for me when I first read it last week I had to come back to it again!
The tears this powerfully beautiful poem bring to me are mixed with joy, sadness & hope. Joy becuz I have a wonderful wife who's stuck with me for almost 23 years and always will. Sadness becuz I've been so unable to be truly intimate with her. Hope becuz I am slowly becoming able to quit wondering why she loves me & has stayed with me waiting, and just receive her precious gift of love.
I hope you have loved ones who are by your side to give & receive the gift of your love. Do know that you are loved here, brother.
Obviously, so is your poetry. You do indeed have a gift for writing poetry. As Matt said, this poem really shows how we as survivors can be loved by others. And you are loved!
Thanks Jake & take care
Wuame
