Under the Moon

when the moon shines
and the insects chime
and no one is there but you and a friend

quiet times holding hands
and smiling at each other
just being pals

when the moon shines
and you see your refection
in the pool and you grin

quiet times of things that
create smiles on your face
and all you know is now

quiet time, happy time,
time with a friend
time smiling

when the moon shines

MJ,

Nice poem. It's interesting the way you refer so vividly to the body language that comes into play when two people really ARE good friends. Thanks for sharing this.

Much love,
Larry

Sounds like we have the same friend. But he is in a facility in FL and there are so many demons to batttle and all I can do is watch and fret and stay a friend. But he knows I am a friend and I'm sure the same goes for you.

i would hope that all the people we touch

remember we love them

it is too bad things have to change

part of me still wishes I was home with TC

it really is too bad abuse has to mess with us all

TC I really hope you are doing well.

Michael,

Glad to see things have been going well for you. But yep, you're so right. We have to be prepared to rely on ourselves, and then welcome support from friends when it comes. I used to feel like I was being betrayed by friends all the time, but eventually I learned to accept that everyone has their own issues and problems and I can't expect friends to be there for me on command all the time. My first source of support has to be myself.

Much love,
Larry

Tell yourself that you love you, then you can share it.

A + for a positive poem that shows we can be happy. What a concept!

I dedicate this poem to someone very special

Ken E. for showing me what true friendship is all about

Under the Moon

when the moon shines
and the crickets chime
and no one is there but you and your best friend

quiet times holding hands
and smiling at each other
just being pals

when the moon shines
and you see your refection
in the pool and you both grin

quiet times of things that
create smiles on your face
and all you know is now

a quiet time, a happy time,
time spent with your best friend
time smiling together when the moon shines

under the sun

having fun

under the moon

still smiling

glad for the good things in my life

working on accepting the other stuff

working on the dark stuff

letting the moon shine upon me and soaking in the reflection of the sun through the moon

thanks to everyone here whom I consider my friend

without this place I would not be where I am at,
eventhough I did the work you helpped me out so much

once again thank you

Michael Joseph

this is most viewed poem and I wrote one year one month ago, this place helps so much

thanks men and thanks all that come here to heal

ex wife said I was dead and that is ok she was never there for me at all, her car and money was God and I was a piece of shit in her eyes. She told me she was trying to get rid of me long before I left, all she had to do was ask I would have left.

As far as I am concerned she was the most selfish womean I have ever known, and so I do not miss her ways at all she was very menn to me. God has blessed me over and over since leaving.

I am better off now. I would have been just fine never getting married to her at all, nothing but an expensive pain in the ass.

Thanks men for being there and believing in me, I will let you know how book is going.

I am using this poem in book as some of you know. I an also using the poem as a children's book and the poem My Heart of Gold as a picture book for adult's. Using My heart of gold to help others understand more about abuse.

I may use photo's, or drawings that fit the words. Any one here is welcome to give me ideas on illustrations. Thought that the book touching on abuse, My heart or Gold would be a nice one for survivor drawings. I plan on being creative, and I am open for ideas.

Thanks

quiet time, happy time,
time with a friend
time smiling

when the moon shines

Life is too short not to appreciate friends
and appreciate what life has to offer
each day brings new life, and a chance to meet
people that will help shape our hearts and lives

you never know what you will see or hear
and esp under the moon.

I liked this poem because it reminds me that seldom do good deep friendships begin in the glar of the sun, Most are nurtured in the soft dark light of the moon and grow from there.

Hi, Michael Joseph, you have done this to me again, you have shown me just what a friend that you are. I would like to use your poem for all my/our brothers/friends here in this web site. I never had a chance to sit under the moon with a friend. I never really had REAL friends. But I do now, right here, right now. I now know what love really means, right here. Thanks again Michael Joseph. Heal well my brother/friend.

I am starting to make head way on the book, I wrote this poem while locked up by someone that took me in for 10 months, it is amazing how I can be so positive even while going through something so bad.

Glad I am out and glad to be with someone who cares and loves me.

One way to help me heal and share good times.

someone who loves me

friendship is priceless
the moon is priceless
and a job would be great too

quiet times of things that
create smiles on your face
and all you know is now

eventhough the abuse has
taken so much from us
finding ourself and
seeing the good inside
and being loved

somehow making life
good again despite the
abuse.

It is comming up my 10 th annaversary of reg on this site, I found it sometime in 2000 and reg in 2001.

I have met many great men here and this site has helped a great deal in my recovery.

This poem shows what we needed, so I send this message with love and know that men here care.

Love your brother

Michael Joesph

happy times
happy days

being with friends
learning to love eachother
thru understanding of our pain

under the moon
while it shines

Hey Michael Joseph,

Just read your post about having your second grade class illustrate your poem. I wanted to let you know that I teach too (private teaching practice) and have many young ones I work with. Would love to correspond more about how teaching feeds your recovery. I teach reading/writing/speaking/critical-creative thinking to folk from Kindergarten-12th Grade. My inner kids love to read to the younger set especially--not to mention play learning games! I try to position the learner at the center of the teaching transaction, rather than curriculum as I find it helps skill process development because learning is much more fun then.

Oh, I just posted my first piece here in this forum: The Necessity of Bottoms. It's personal narrative, but this seemed like the right place to post it. Let me know what you think about it if you get a chance.

Have a Great Day!

John+

well they did not understand where I was when I wrote that poem but I still have there version of this poem.

So much can be done with children's books and helping children learn lessions to help them thru life.

Thanksgiving Day 2010

I am thankful for Kenneth

he is the best thing that ever happened to me

So much love

and he does not lock me up

and will never lock me up

because normal people do not do that

when the moon shines
and you see your refection
in the pool and you grin

The importancee of feeling good
about yourself despite abuse

Seeing yourself and smiling

knowing you are a friend

You have played a great part of my recovery, just by reading your poetry, and;they warm my heart.

Love ya lots!
