sometimes the best poems are written adhoc.
It is very touching, and how many of us has said these prayers over and over again,

It's wonderful. I see in it a sense of compassion for another, that they may not have to experience the hurt we all had. And it calls on God to intervene.

Martym,
That is an awesome poem. So much depth in so few words. I wish that non-abused people could get an inkling of the emotion in that poem. I wonder at times if it's possible.

I don't think Darrel means you hurt him with your poem; rather, he was just so moved by it, as am I. I still find that when I see a boy about 11 years old I immediately and automatically wonder if he's safe.
The problem is that many of the kids we see AREN'T safe. But which ones?
This is the terrible tragedy that your poem captures so poignantly: the silent terrible suffering of children in a world that cannot - or will not - see them.
