A poem for my parents

You put so much work into raising me
And you had such high hopes as to what I might turn out to be

You wanted me to live a better life
to escape all of this neighborhood's strife

I didn't get caught up in drugs
And I never hung out with the thugs

But then when I was eleven I joined scouts
and there was a monster thereabouts.

Lurking on little boys
Treating them like his toys

You told me I should say no
but I just let him go

I treated you so badly
And I would always walk off sadly

You didn't deserve to be treated that way
But I was a perverts prey

Middle school was a living hell
but than in high school I found a way to excel

For 3 semesters I did well
But now I have said to my dreams farewell

I'm sorry I didn't do that well
But I've re-entered my living hell

You say you understand why
But when you do you look like your about to cry

Please God, let this storm pass
And let me succeed at last.

this poem is hard for me because I tried and tried.
You will succeed, you always will get to a better place than you are now.

I had my confidence knocked down so many times at a young age, it really hurted me.
There is a lot of hurt in your poem, and glad you shared it,

You are putting so much hard work into your recovery and at such a young age. That is already such a big advantage.

Bill are you actually TALKING to your parents these days? I mean asking them to sit down so you can say how you feel and what's bothering you. That's really important. And let them help you with contacts with school as well. It will make a lot of difference if the school knows why your grades have dropped.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
