He was taunted and called names... Just like me... He was humiliated Just like me... He was kicked when he was down Just like me... They stripped him for all to see... Just like me... He was fastened to a tree... I was tied to a tree... He was ritually and sadistically abused... Just like me... He is the ultimate survivor But as for me... I'm still in the process or trying to survive He is alive... I am just starting to live through his grace and healing Don't remember where I picked this up. It was titled "The Abused Christ." But then I think that's what it takes. What impressed me about this poem, wherever it came from, is in how vividly Christ is portrayed as a survivor, which I'd never much thot of before, tho I can't imagine why. For me this is a great source of encouragement & hope. He rose from death. Surely I can rise up into new life out of this living death of abuse... Wuame _________________________ "I can't stand pain.
