Starring Christian Slater and Mary Stuart Masterson....
One of my favorite movies just happens to center around a woman who was sexually abused as a child. She falls in love with the perfect guy, who sends her tons of roses, but she cannot accept his love. He doesn't understand why she runs from him, and then he finds an old photograph of her with her father (who adopted her because she was a baby left at an airport). She confesses that he had molested her.
Then she distances herself from the perfect guy, and goes to see a play put on by children, many of whom were abused. In the play the little girl is asleep (sleeping beauty kind of) and the other kids are saying, "Please wake up Princess, please. There, you are safe where no one can ever hurt you, but where no one can ever love you either. Please wake up." The little girl wakes up and smiles.
Finally, in the end, the woman decides to come back to the perfect guy because she learned he really does love her, she is worthy, and she'd be a fool to let him get away. The music soundtrack also is EXCELLENT.
It were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
