Although I have not read every single one of these books as of yet - they may be of some help or use for all people....

1. BROKEN BOYS/MENDING MEN: Recovery from Childhood Sexual Abuse. Gruban-Black, S. 1997 Ivy Books.
2. Male on Male Rape: The Hidden Toll of Stigma and Shame. Scarce, M 1997 Insight Books.
3. Recovery: How to Survive Sexual Assault for Women, Men, Teens, and their Friends and Families. Benedict H., & Brison, S. 1994 Columbia University Press.
4. Victims No Longer: Men Recovering from Incest and Other Sexual Child Abuse. Lew, M. & Bass, E. 1990 Harper Collins
5. If He Is Raped: A Guidebook for partners, Spouses and Friends. McEnoy,A. & Brookings, J. 1999 Learning Publications.
6. The Courage to Heal. Bass, E. 1994 Harperperennial Library.
Hope you will find some of these books rewarding and helpful.

I have read "Victims No Longer". It's a great book. It was actually the first book I read about abuse. There's a lot of good stuff in there. It helps survivors understand more about their feelings and actions. I also read the 2nd book by Mike Lew, "Leaping Upon The Mountains". It's a very good book but probably better for men in later stages of recovery.

Gentlemen,

Here's another title you both may want to look into: ABUSED BOYS by Mic Hunter. It just came out in paperback.

I read this, maybe 6 months ago, or less. It was very good.

I read Male On Male Rape about 2 months ago. And I thought it was excellent. Since, I work with parolees, men who've been incarcerated, I found the section on prison rape very helpful, although it wasn't nearly as lenghty and in depth as I would have liked.

I'd like to recommend "In my father's arms" by Walter DeMilly. It is very well written and has a good flow that does not just deal with pain. It has a good feel for recovery from incestuous abuse with a good range of anger to acceptance/healing that you don't see that often in male survivor literature.

Two of my Poems are printed in The book
"in cabin six" edt. by Jill Khun
it was on this web site last May.

Mike Lews books are great, Leaping the Mountains is his newest one which talks about all the recovery that has happened since Victims No Longer came out.

There will be a weekend for Male Survivors
at the Kirkridge Center in PA in July, I am going. Mike Lew will be there.

Victims no longer by Mike Lew was the first book I was told to get by my therapist and have to agree, its the best I have read to date.
Sure wish I could remember the other book she GAVE me to read. It was NOT so good. I used it for target practice and gave it back to my therapist along with the money she spent to purchase it for me. I told her to send it back to its writer with my critique but I dont think she did this.
Keep the faith.

Leaping upon the Mtns.

the book shares the sucesses that others have made at different stages.

not everyone has to like victims nolonger, parts of the book helped me.

At the time it came out there was very little out there. I wanted to know about other survivors.

Your critisim is welcome by me, sometimes other people's stories can trigger me.
I hope you have found things that have hepled you Sharculle
