Hey, guys, I posted this in another area and did not know how to transfer it to this general forum, so I'm recopying it.

I thought that I would start this thread, because attending a retreat is something that I've been thinking about since first coming here in March.

I got really excited when I saw that there was a retreat, near me, in November.

Shortly after, the Admin folks changed it to a Level II, which meant that I, and anyone else who wanted to attend, would have had to have attended a previous retreat in preparation for what was now going to be a Level II.

Much to my surprise, and delight, the November retreat has once again, been reorganized as a Level I. Now, all I have to do is to find out if I qualify to attend.

Are there qualifications? I noticed that it says that an interview will be conducted with each propective retreat candidate.

Orals? We gotta do Orals? God, I'm already shaking in my shoes.

How about the rest of you guys, anyone done one of these retreats?

I had a buddy here who went to one, said he broke some "rules" and he hasn't been heard from since.

Are you drawn and quartered in one of these, as I've suspected? Or am I just scaring myself?

Anyone?

Anyone?

David

Hi David,

Yes, I attended the retreat in NY last September. Don't worry about the interview--those are conducted by very loving therapists, most all of who are one of us.

The purpose of the interview seemed to find out if I had a therapist, was it ok with the T that I attend, there was talk about what I hoped to get from it and such things. You will find that the people who put these retreats on are the most caring people in the world--and they as brilliant.

The retreat itself was such a moving and affirming experience. Gentle, is the word I would use, as to how we are treated. We also had some fun and laughs and the kind of food I wish I had every day--I would be a perfect ten if I ate that food.

You are never pushed. If you get to feel that you are unsure of yourself there is a room you can go to and a T will go there with you to help you.

The therapist meet as a team to talk about us, and our needs, and how they will do the next part of the retreat, even though they have it planned out. If they have to adjust they will.

You will have a small group and the therapists that are in your group really connect with you. If they sense you need some special attention they will offer it to you.

Probably many of us would like to attend more than one retreat and some do.

Does that help?

Bob

Bob,
Yes, it does.

That's kinda what I thought. It's good to hear it, however.

Thank you,

David
