Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

Mike:

Thanks for sharing that. The preacher at Homecoming service today referred to this classic hymn, and to the story of its author, John Newton,
who went from being a slave trader to a warrior against slavery by God's "Amazing Grace."

That last verse I've not heard before. Can you tell me where you found it? I like it.

This web site.

I was at the 4th Anniversary of the Passage of the Victims Rights bill today and it was sung by a lady who had an absolutely incredible voice,

I have always loved it.

Dear Mike,

Quote:
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
Exactly the words I needed to hear. Thanks to my brother wolf for sharing grace with me today.

Mike, you found the real thing! Well done!

Wishing grace for my brothers,

Gratefully,

Thanks Mike; I was familiar with the other six verses but not that one. What a fitting song to be sung for the Anniversary of the Passage of the Victims Rights bill. Here's hoping it is sung a lot more at similar occasions around the world and soon. Thanks for the website too--another one for my "favorites".
