ok - about half an hour later and a starbucks to the right of me -

I wanted to say hi again to the names and friends I see and tell you the smiles I feel when I see each of your ids

the question or persistent idea at this time is that I wish I could have all the answers already -

I think that in part- this -is the sadness of life - for me

- that inept feeling -

but really - or given pause - I think I actually I am doing well - when I step back to see myself -

and I believe we are all doing great here -

truly -

we are survivors - we are conquerors -

for myself - I am seeing more - and more - the realistic - perhaps not limiting though -
framework in which to set aspirations -

I dunno - I mean - some say - oh you are so talented -

but reality says - no one is hiring me -

so a framework in which to set my expectation -

will give me - some sense of a problem I can fix -
knowingly - with assurance of a sort -
but I will see this as stone to leap to the next - and grab a branch then and then a tree top!
I will see the horizon from there and then the mountains - and maybe someday... I will climb them too!

have a great super morning - day and week

((((big hugs)))))

love,
mark

Mark,

I think that looking for work is so difficult precisely because of the devalidating effects of unfruitful interviews, unreturned phone calls, and so on. But that is usually not a vote of no confidence against the applicant, it's just a statement of "sorry, we don't have anything for you".

The real problem is that there is often no way of telling where one does and doesn't have a real chance. We would have to know the inner workings of the prospective employer for that, and gaining that sort of information would be a whole new effort and problem.

My solution is to tell my students to apply everywhere. What will they lose? A stamp? If they come back to me disappointed and feeling low, we just go down to the Teestube for an expresso.

Coffee doesn't solve things, but talking and feeling you are listened to does. We just have to keep going and keep up our confidence.

Much love,
Larry
