i dont think you need to be sorry. this place is where we should come to feel and talk about it all. this is where we should come for support. i mean, we have all had bad days here.

Phoster and shadow are right. What better place than this? We're not advice pros but there's not a person here who cannot relate in some way to what it is you have to say so as hard as this may be for you to accept, it's OK for you to let it out.

You're not alone anymore, OK? If your words are too tough for some to take, they'll just let it slide. That's one of the great things about the number of people here, you are bound to connect to at least one with your writing so fire away, we can handle it. Just be sure to follow the guidelines regarding trigger warnings. We know how to handle it.

Trevor - this is a good place to vent. I have probably upset some people in my time here with things I have written! I have though never intentionally set out to upset anyone, and I believe that most people here believe that.

Come here for the support...that's why we are here. Write what you want, but read it before you post it.

If I have ever upset anyone here, then I apologise also - I'm old enough to know better!

I am new to this board and I like the fact that you are able to vent and get it out. It took me 33 yrs, 2 wifes (almost a third) and who knows how many other people I hurt because they got close.

I wish I had the balls to let it go many moons ago like you do.

Isn't THAT the truth Kirk! Perps take these gestures and disguise them as tokens of friendship, and in many cases the boy is already so emotionally gutted that the feeling of being liked and wanted makes the bribe seem even more attractive.

But it's all a trick, and that's the cruelty of abuse - a willingness to betray a kid who is already in tremendous need and just wants to be wanted and noticed.

My feeling exactly. Some days our sense of humor is an incredibly powerful resource. Resorting to it isn't an escape, it's a way of showing ourselves that even when things look SO bad, we should not allow our abuse issues to define us.

We are all guys with hopes and dreams, independent of what was done to us by others. Our sense of humor shows we are alive to that fact and can refuse to package ourselves in the wrappings that abusers had in mind for us.

True story, but it's worth telling because this topic seems like the place to tell it

Many years ago I was dragged into Marks & Spencers by my wife during an olympic shopping session, part of which now demanded that I hung around while she chose a new bra.
So I was leaning on a pillar loaded down with bags like a third world donkey hoping the fire bell would ring and we could get the f**k outta there!

I can switch off at times like and stare into space in my own little world, and it just so happened that I found myself staring at this gorgeous young lady about 19 or 20yo who was buying panties.
She realised that I was staring straight at her and smiled, and remember that I was over twice her age with a beer belly and beard so it wasn't my good looks that made her smile! :rolleyes:
Then she started to hold the panties across her hips one at a time, and when my face lit up as she held some tiny lacey ones up, she smiled at me again and took them to the till.

It nearly made the day worthwhile.

You're so right. Sometimes that really is all one can say: "You're not alone, we're here for you". But when a survivor is feeling down and defeated that's already a very powerful and healing message.
