In my last therapy session a couple of weeks ago, I was talking about getting to the point where at least one day goes by when I don't think about the attack...She gave me some mind exercises to do, where as soon as I would start thinking about the attack and rape, I would force my self into thinking about something pleasant or something I enjoy doing..It is not working at all and I suddenly relized today, It may be because, every time I think about it , what goes thru my mind is what I should have done different to prevent it..I guess after 7 months of therapy and anti-depressants, which has made a big difference in my life, I still am blaming myself for not doing more to prevent it or fighting harder...

Mark,

Keep working at it, you have had a very long time to develop the pattern you have when it comes thinking about what happened and how you look at it. It is going to take some time and practice to change those habits, just keep working at it and dont give up, ok?

Mark, I am telling you, the *what if's* and the *if only's* will drive you nuts, the truth of the matter is that you did everything you could have done at the time, you made the best decisions you could of with the information you had at the time, the reality is you could have been killed, you survived, you will heal from this, it is already happening, this is how it happens.

All you really have to do is keep talking, just give yourself some time and let the healing take place.

healing is possible, for all of us, even you.

John
