You are more than your past

You are worth more than your psych records and pill bottles
You are not defined by your diagnoses
You are more than your anxiety and depression
More than your addictions and phobias
You are more than your freak outs and break downs and slip ups and black outs
You are not your medical history

You are worth more than your bank account
You are not defined by your job
You are more than what you want to be when you grow up
You are worth more than your dreams
You are not your unemployment
You are not defined by your disability cheques
You are worth more than any career

You are worth more than what's in your pants
You are not your failed relationships
You are more than the number of times you've cheated
The number of one night stands
You are worth far more than the number of times you've said I can't
You are more than the number of times you couldn't
You are more than a good fuck
Or a lousy one
You are not defined by sex

You are more than your screw ups
More than the mistakes you've made
You are more than the hurt you've caused
You are not defined by your poor choices
You are more than a mistake

You are more than what they called you
You are not defined by how they treated you
You are worth far more than what they said you were worth

You are more than your pain
You are more than your brokenness
You are more than your fear
You are more than you ever give yourself credit for.

WOW, bey - you said a ton of great stuff there!
it could be a mantra for the MS community.
it brought me to tears reading it.
i will save this one to re-read later, again and again.
so much there that i need to believe and am starting to accept and some that i have embraced already.
i hope that you believe ALL of this about yourself, too.

THANK YOU.

Nicely said.

Holding that thought is the tricky part for me, because my old default questions self-worth relentlessly. When focused, my newer stance on it seeks a more moderate and balanced view.

I like your poetry piece here.

Thanks everyone
I'm not sure i totally believe this, at least not all the time. But I wrote down what I would tell someone else who was struggling like I am. Its easier to be kind to others than it is to be kind to myself. But I'm working on it, and sometimes I really truly believe the things I wrote here.
