Hi,
I'm new to the site. I pushed myself to join as I dont discuss this with anyone except my therapist. I have a great relationship with my spouse and good friends but its just not something I understand how to share. They know of my past but not what I've gone through. So, I'm looking to connect with others along my journey.

Hello, friend and welcome to the MS forum.

Let me congratulate you for joining this community, I'm sure it will help you on your journey of recovery. You are very brave to introduce yourself here smile . Take your time and explore this site at your own pace. If you feel so, share as much of your feelings, experiences, ideas as you feel comfortable with. Here on this site you will find acceptance and understanding, we're all on the same boat and since we all share very similar feelings, we can all relate to how you feel...

Be kind to yourself, you deserve the best wink

Andy

Hi IV,

Your post caught my eye because isolating was one of my major means of coping with what happened to me. But anyway, welcome to MS.

The good news is that you suddenly are connected to 12,000 guys who "get it", won't judge you, and are behind you 100%.

Unfortunatley, you already know what the bad news is.

Be well,

Jude

Innervoice,
Welcome to MS. Reading and participating here helps me understand a little more about myself every day. I hope it does the same for you.

While our stories are all different, as Jude said, we "get it." We are all on this journey together, and there are many friends here who will walk with you as you find your unique path to recovery.

Hey Innervoice,

I am sorry for your reason to be here, but glad for you to have found MS.

Your post about isolating is an unfortunate and common response from those of us who were abused.
I see it now as simply as the way we needed to be in order to feel safe.
It's a big bad world out there to survivors of abuse, there are perpetrators and potential perpetrators, at least that is how I saw it for so long.
So isolating myself from the world was a way that I kept myself from potential harm.
The other unfortunate part to this, is that isolating also kept us from living life as full as it could be.

There is a great deal of healing in sharing our story, and being understood, and supported.

Welcome, take your time, and when you are ready, speak your truth, and the community will be here to support you.

Keep Well
