how can you measure the damage?
how do you calculate cost?
how do you analyze the fallout
of the trust and the innocence lost?
how can you predict the future?
the effects and the symptoms of pain?
the hurts and the habits and hangups
that surface again and again?
how can you treat every heartache?
how do you soothe all the fears?
how can you make it all better
when you can't even see through the tears?
maybe the reading will help some,
and surely the talking helps mend,
but the thing that means most in recovery
is the "you're not alone" from a friend.

We are often troubled, but not crushed;
sometimes in doubt, but never in despair;
there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend;
and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.
- Paul, II Cor 4:8-9
