Does it matter if your new therapist is a male or female? Just wondering is it proper to talk to a female T about sex addiction!

It all depends on how you feel about it. If you feel like you would not be able to discuss it, then you should do what is healthiest for you. But a therapist is a professional and should be able to handle any issue relevant to treatment, including sex addiction. So a woman therapist is not inappropriate unless you feel like that would hinder your ability to be honest. I think that, regardless of male or female, asking the therapist whether or not they has any experience dealing with male sex addiction clients would probably be an important question to ask.
I come here now, and I see lots of anger.
I don't blame anyone for that. It is perfectly understandable.
But it is not healthy for me.
So I'm going somewhere else.

Goodbye and good healing.

much depends on you. if you are having reservations even now then perhaps a male T would be best for you. I know that I could never see a female T just because of my own feelings. that is changing some now and I have met some very good female Ts the thing is to go man you are worth it.
Either I will find a way, or I will make one.

If you go and its not a match either because of the T, thier style or thier gender you can always switch. I always suggest at least 2 sessions so you can see if it's the right fit. Bring these concerns to the T and hear what they have to say in regards to it. Remember the first session ifs an interview for BOTH parties.

As new said, most important thing is to get there.
