I am alone
chilled to the bone
cold as stone
I must atone
for sins not my own

I am not free
they still have me
and I can see
it will be
for eternity

By day I sigh
at night I cry
by day I lie
to hide the why

Three verses says it all.
And only hope it can change.

allthough the poem is beautiful, i have to agree with victor that this is temporary.. sometimes we feel the need to be separate, alone.. but this feeling will pass and be replaced by a desire to live..

All the best to you sharky!

Thanx guys ... I do appreciate your support.

Christmas is a difficult time for me ...
not because as a child they were terrible,
much to the contrary ...
they were magical.
To be brief ... it was a time when I was seen.
I was visible and part of my immediate family's life ...
but the real joy was in the specialness of the season
when my extended family ... who could always see me ... were extra close
and loving.
As was our life in general it all revolved around my maternal Grandparents ...
who are long gone.
My Grandfather was God to me.
After 30 years you'd think I'd be over the loss ... but often ... I am not.
It's hard to give up one of the very few good things I had going for me as a kid.
What I wouldn't give for the chance to hug him one more time.
At Christmas he was more the Patriarch of the family than at any other time ...
and the love for his family and the love we had for him was like a living entity
all of it's own ...
but even then ... I was the gleam in his eye.
When I think of him I'm a boy again ... his 'Vaillant' (good boy)
I don't know what would have become of me if not for him ...
or who I'd be now.
I miss him.

the pangs we feel are bittersweet my friend. For me it was my grandmother. I try to be glad of the influence she had.rather than just missing her. I still cry thinking of her too but it is a grateful odd kind of pain. He would be proud of you man, you are kind and loving... a truly valiant man.
