What this place that I am stuck
constricted and confined
no place to change my clothes
or even change my mind

It seems so unfamiliar
yet I know it oh too well
running round in circles
a home made prison cell

I sit down and tried to forget
the lot that I am in
close my eyes and try to forget
yet my state is sinking in

This started by building a wall
to avoid unpleasant things
The wall then turned on me
a barrier, to a personal hell

So I hit the wall
figuratively so they say
trying to find a way out
or up and into the light again

I read and think and ponder
and criticize myself
but are these the means
to the end that I desire?

feeling lost and incomplete
adrift among the waves
I don’t know if I'm underground
or above the cities haze

all I can see is blue sky
with clouds that roll on past
the wall of stone surrounds me
is there a way out at last?

I smash my fists against the wall
in the hopes of becoming free
but the wall it does not give at all
because the wall was built by me

Wow, when I started T I felt like this part exactly, the wall could not be broken. My T showed me how to do that. Awesome poem.

Thanks Buffalo,

I am needing a little positive reinforcement right now.
Been away from MS for a while, feeling isolated and unsure this this last while.

The wall is a new phenomenon for me, I am not sure where it came from or why.
But trying to break it down, and MS has been a great outlet for me so I returned.

I am glad this resonated with you.
My T has some thoughts on the subject as well.

Hi Adam ...

The theme of your poem
is all too familiar
to me ...
and most all of us ...
as a symbol of our failure.

The wall has many names
many forms
and reflects many states of mind
but in the end
it's all the same
just a different kind.

I struggle with the feeling
you so artfully portray
it keeps me down
and kneeling
day to day to day.

Walls ... holes ... pits ...
cliffs ... chasms ... cages ...
fences ... jails ...
prison cells ...
it matters not how it's told
only what it tells.

I feel and hear every word
you've spoken here in rhyme ...
but yet I fear
it's not our biggest foe
not our final end ...
it kills me that I'm sure I know
that what might bring us down
my friend ...
is time.

Use it well.

I've been staying away from MS myself ... mostly
taking a breather ...
a bit of time to try and sort things out on my own
staying in touch
laying low
and feeling very very sorry for myself ...
trying to digest my fate
and gagging on the overflow
sitting on my plate.
So just like you
here I am ...
feeding time ...
back at the zoo.

So as you pound your fists against the wall ...
desperate to be free
look beside you ... my dear friend
all that blood and sweat and tears
isn't only you ...
some of it is me ...

I'm standing right beside you buddy ...
here ... you're not alone.

I built the walls 2 protect me, and some r still there 4 that reason, but others had to come down. So it's a process. smile
