Tainted Love always creeps me right out.
We are not defined by our faults, or our wounds, but by the truth within us, which nothing can take away.

"Maggie May" by Rod Stewart.

The whole song is from the point of a view of a teenage boy who has just realized that he's been the victim of CSA from an older woman. Baffles me that people "like" this song; makes me want to curl up into a ball.

Recovery is possible. Hang in there, brothers.

Wings Of A Butterfly - HIM

F*ck does that song bring back some memories I wish I didn't have.
Thematically it is somewhat problematic but I think most of my issues have to do with personal symbolism attached to the song.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but I've found myself identifying with these songs lately.

"What Love Really Means" by JJ heller-

"He cries in the corner where nobody sees
He's the kid with the story
No one would believe
He prays every night
"Dear God won't you please
Could you send someone here
Who will love me?"

and "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia

"Nothing's fine, I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor

Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see
The perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn"

There are a lot of songs out there that reflect child abuse. I get lost in a lot of them.

This is true for me too. Kate Bush's song "The Infant Kiss" was a big trigger for me when I first heard it years ago, mostly because I wasn't at all expecting to have to think about it and wasn't prepared. A grown woman thinking a little boy can make her lose control is incredibly triggering to me. I believe Kate Bush when she explains that she's just telling a story and not actually condoning the perspective, but I still hate that song.
"As long as the child within is not allowed to become aware of what happened to him or her, a part of his or her emotional life will remain frozen . . . all appeals to love, solidarity, and compassion will be useless."

Songs that are triggering for me are "Everybody Hurts" by REM, and "Elvira" by the Oak Ridge Boys. The former because it's able to touch my heart like no other song can, and the latter because it was a hit on the day I was once abused.

On the other hand, a couple of songs that I find healing are "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen, and "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by John Denver/Peter, Paul and Mary.
It's because it symbolizes me speaking to my 11 year old self, and coincidentally, it was popular around the time i was abused by my parish priest.
