The Conference "Child Safety on the Internet – Prevention, Education and Cooperation” was held in Moscow http://www.childcentre.info/child-safety-internet-conference/index.php?id=10737 The conference brought together 150 researchers, law enforcement, policy makers, child protection professionals, experts and NGO representatives from Russia, other Baltic Sea Region countries and the EU Member States to exchange knowledge and experiences and suggest ways to deal with the challenges related to keeping children safe on the Internet and keeping the Internet free from child abusive material. The two conference topics: "Child sexual abuse online - Reduction of Harm through international cooperation" and "Promoting a safer use of online technologies by children - Educational programmes, awareness raising and information" were elaborated in four plenary sessions and nine seminars, all in all around 55 interventions and presentations were made.
The conference, organised by the Expert Group for Cooperation on Children at Risk within the Council of the Baltic Sea States in cooperation with the European Commission's Safer Internet Programme gave input to further and closer cooperation between Russian experts and EU experts. The conference was funded by the European Commission's Safer Internet Programme.
I sent the CBC article to a number of people I know, like close friends who are my support, my therapist, and two volunteers at a child abuse investigation and support centre that helped me earlier this year. As a long-term victim of online sexual abuse, this campaign really speaks to me and means a lot.
