A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense to not himself.
Or just as mad.
So there you are.

this commission is good news.
but we can only hope for concrete action.

"'Any child being subject to child sexual abuse is an evil and horrible event,' Australian Prime Minister Gillard said.

'What I think is so confronting about much of what is in the public domain now is the sense that there were systemic issues, and that there were eyes averted and children left in harm's way when changes could have been made and issues of abuse addressed. We've got to learn from that, so we do better in the future.'

She said the commission would focus solely on the sexual abuse of children within organisations and institutions, including police, schools, sporting clubs, orphanages, foster care, and religious organisations

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
mandate/mission statement
The Royal Commission will inquire into how institutions with a responsibility for children have managed and responded to allegations and instances of child sexual abuse.

It will investigate where systems have failed to protect children, and make recommendations on how to improve laws, policies and practices to prevent and better respond to child sexual abuse in institutions.

The Commissioners can look at any private, public or non-government organisation that is, or was in the past, involved with children, including government agencies, schools, sporting clubs, orphanages, foster care, and religious organisations.

This includes where they consider an organisation caring for a child is responsible for the abuse or for not responding appropriately, regardless of where or when the abuse took place.

this is their official "HOW TO TELL YOUR STORY" guide

survivor speaks.
trigger warning.

Questions abound as the royal commission sifts through thousands of cases coming before it.

"Survivors wept as day one of the long awaited Royal Commission into child sexual abuse opened in Victoria.
Over 5,000 people are expected to appear and already concerns about the Commission missing the report deadline are surfacing."

The SANO Task Force was established to investigate historic and new allegations that have emanated from the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into child sex abuse involving Religious and Non-Government organisations. The task force will also coordinate investigations emerging from the Australian Government Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
