Hi jay and thank u
The support of this forum has helped me a lot, because sometimes things doesn't go the way we want, but I get the strength from people's kind words of this forum.
I hope somebody with connection and influence(here in Brazil) reads my post and try to help me.Because so far I have no sources(I only have a lot of e-mails that I already sent(with no reply) lol.
I'm thinking to send another e-mail to Dr. Howard Fradkin, because I haven't received an email yet from Bill Burmester "materials about how to start a support group"(if I had Bill Burmester's e-mail I could get in touch with him myself).

Fabio

Hi guys, I'm so sorry, I have been busy with personal problems(health issues). The thing is that there are groups that help Male survivors here in Brazil,is just that I wasn't aware of it, http://bastaviolenciasexual.org/sobreviventes/masculinos
I haven't contacted them yet, then I'm still not sure if it is a reliable source.
I promise that this year I'll make things happen, last year I stopped the project because somebody told me: "before you help the others... you need to help yourself!". And I have a lot of problems lol.
Here's a group that I created for brazilians survivors on facebook
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1457546691135071/
Is allowed fake profiles, I know many want to remain anonymous

Hej Fabio

Great to see you trying to set up a support group! Hope you'll find the resources you need and that there are a couple of brave men who want to join in

One thing you said struck me:
I promise that this year I'll make things happen, last year I stopped the project because somebody told me: "before you help the others... you need to help yourself!". And I have a lot of problems lol.

What the other person told you, has been my secret mantra behind a lot of things i did or didnt do. I really believed that i need to heal myself before i could help others. But studying spiritual traditions have made me realize that helping others is no other thing than helping myself.

So Fabio, no matter what your (and in my case it goes for me just as good ;)) problems are, you are allready helping out many persons! Whether you're aware of it or not..

Good luck with your group in São Paulo!

Pieter

Hi Fabio,

Congratulations on deciding to start the group! Even if there are already groups for male abuse survivors, I truly believe there is always room for another one. Your group might just be the one that people find the most comfortable, the most useful and so on.

While it's good to be at a certain point in your healing before you can truly reach out to others effectively, I found that even in the first months of mine, I was able to at least offer encouragement and share things I had already resolved (or at least worked through mentally) with others who were struggling.

In other words, even if you're relatively early on in your healing, you probably still have lots to offer to those who are just starting to deal with abuse. You will also find yourself learning from those who might be a little further down the road. In any event, you're doing a wonderful thing.

Bob

Hi Pieter, thank u so much for words and I really want to make things happen this year, if u want u can join our group on facebook(u can use fake profile).
I have mental issues that I won't say what it is, but also I have a little of agoraphobia, so is little complicated to go out and meet people(make things happen), I can't make things happen only staying inside my house. That's why this person said:"before you help the others... you need to help yourself!".It's disease problem

I'm glad to hear that Bob, that you're helping people and that also that I can help them too.I'm sure I can learn from each one of them.
I can say I'm still healing process with many doubts among other things, but I'm sure that I can help the others.
