A mid-summer road trip. One of the ultimate simple joys. You'd better have a blast and journal your adventures because I'm in the backseat living this vicariously.

Gary,

This looks like such an awesome day, man! I am glad beyond belief that you had such a good experience. And just for the record... I saw the latest zombie movie last weekend with Brad Pitt... World War Z... or something like that.

Anyway... that's you in the pic!! You haven't changed your looks since the childhood pic in the avatar, and the joy is written all over your expression... And whatever the big adventure is that is to start tomorrow... omg!- as the young ones say- have fun!! (If it is indeed a road trip, I am like so jealous.) Be safe, be free.

Thanks for sharing this, Gary. Phantasm was one of my favorite movies when I was in my teens. Love that movie! And agree the Tall Man was a great villain! I got to see it on the big screen at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco about 3 years ago and it was still good.

Glad you got to meet the creator of the movie and that it was such a good experience for you.

Hey Gary,

You told me you were going to that show but I didn't realize how much you loved, not liked, but loved. Sorry. But like Pero said you were probably the happiest man on earth.

I'm really glad you didn't miss the show

I love you man!!! A couple of hundred miles already so your on schedule. Man I would fall to the ground at the next rest stop and kiss the earth. I'm speechless. Wow the horrors last night and the happiness this night.

Shit it's an exhilarating experience for me too.

Be safe on the rest of the trip. I hope you left a note for your mother that you won't be over for dinner grin.

So, Gary, I know your road trip did not take you through my neck of the woods, but here's something I have to share. I saw your pics (you are a handsome fellow!) and was in the pool in our neighborhood. There was a guy in the pool who looked like your picture! On a long shot, I swam up to him and asked if his name was Gary.

Nope.

Oh well. Stupid little story but I had to share it. And now there is some person in the world who probably knows NOTHING of MS or any of us and who may be asking at this very minute, "Who the hell is Gary?"

Awesome Gary.

That poor cat he looks so lonely. I wish you would tell us where you're going because I started and office pool to bet on where you're going to end up. I should make it big this time as long as no one knows that I do have inside information

This is terrific. I have enjoyed every shot, every mile with you, Gary. Can't say thanks enough for sharing the excitement of your trip. I have never been to New England. Wonder if my drawl with a slight twang (BIG TWANG) would be well- received?

I could kiss that serious face of yours all 900 fucken miles of it. Man that's the best morning you can get. Fantastic. It looks like you forgot to tell your mother that you were leaving grin. That's the best kind of morning you can get for 900 miles, more than you ever did before. Now you just got to get some furniture and get to the new place before USPS does.

Oh yeah, any size TWANG is acceptable up north smile.

Sounds like a quiet place. Washington Square Park has more people than Vermont. But we have the Stonewall inn and the Christopher street parklett where I used to hang out and get pimped occasionally by my friends to pay for our weekly party.

Captain Kangaroo is dead????? I don't believe that. How could he have died. He with Soupy Sales and Shari Lewis with Lambchops were my heros. I can't believe the captain died cry.

Did you get into your apartment yet???? I'm so happy you got out of there. I was nervous that I didn't hear from you for a few days.

I'll let you unpack, speak later.

Gary,

May you envision the change you need to make.
May you sew the seeds of happiness in this new "green" field.
May you reap the benefits of your work.
May you find happiness in Vermont.

Hey Gary,

I just noticed your location as Montpelier, Vermont under your avatar. It looks like your avatar is smiling a little more today also.

Sorry I didn't come to the wedding. I really wanted to be one of the best men or at least a flower boy.

Hi Gary. I am just catching up on this thread and WOW! What a huge life change! It takes a hell of a lot of courage to step that far outside of your comfort zone. Congrats! Good luck there and I hope you are well. Take care. Peace,

I'm not absolutely sure of what's going on here, but if it's as I suspect then it sounds like a great success.

Perhaps you know this one. Live at the Albert Hall is actually better than the 80s studio version.

Did you know that Vermont has NO (zero) state gun laws???? Bet you do now!

Did you know that if you kept driving east, you would have come to a state without income taxes OR sales taxes....and where the elected legislators earn only $100.00/year?

Yeah...VT is funny. Super-ultra liberal and has NO state gun laws...and minimal crime...but I always thought all that was weird. I was always like "I wonder if that old hippie is packin heat!"

I am loving the journal of your discoveries. I don't make it north of the Mason Dixon to often 'cause I like to explore in the south... but to see the beauties of New England like this is grand. I have never been there. I now know that I am going to New England!!

Its also grand to see you exploring, and stepping out, and enjoying your new life. I am inspired and encouraged. I am also impressedKeep it coming, my friend.

Hey Gary,

No, I think it's very enjoyable, just to think about all the places I haven't been. It's also cool to know that Calvin Coolidge died on my birthday, January 5. Weird thought but other than me being born on January 5 I don't anything else that happened on January 5 grin.

Hey Gary,

Come to think of it I'll pass on the blueberry cheese. Looks as the same mix of oil and water. Cheese goes with wine and blueberries go with pie smile.

Hey Gary,

Congratulations !!! You got to tell me the secret how you did that. The only directions I ever ask for is for the whereabouts of the closest bathroom. I can't even walk up to a cop and ask.

Hey Gary, is that the sitting room and dinette in your new apartment grin. I see you're still having trouble finding shades for the windows.

The only time I got to go into the living room and dining room in my parent's house was when I had to dust, clean and vacuum. Otherwise I was not allowed into those rooms. When I come visit can I go into those rooms in your apartment without having to vacuum?

If it works to get you out of hiding I will have to talk to you about that. I'm still in my dungeon.

Hi Gary. Just catching up on your thread. Thanks for taking us with you on this awesome journey.

Doesn't sound gross to me. In fact, almost nothing sounds gross with cheese. Except maybe dog shit. Dog shit cheese would be gross. Anything else with cheese, yummy-yummy! Cheese is awesome!

Anyway, looking forward to sharing with more of your adventures in Vermont! smile Take care. Peace,

Oh Ken,

Quote:

yeah I would agree with you that that type of combo would be highly gross.

I don't go for these exotic food thingies like you and Gary. I grew up on cheeseburgers, fries and a vanilla Coke for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I did that for 7 years. So the only thing that cheese goes with is a hamburger smile. now that's "yummy-yummy" grin. As for Gary's blueberry cheese thing it's........ sick. Sorry guys, but I still hope you will continue to talk to me frown.

Hey Gary,

It's about time we saw your better half. I don't know how he puts up with you but maybe it's the smile in your avatar that he's trying to get back. I don't know about you but you look scared shit getting your picture taken by a stranger. Your partner looks cool, calm and collected.

Your getting there Gary, you're finally free and you seem to enjoy that freedom, I'm so happy for you two.

Keep the happy times coming and share some of it with us also, it's a great pick me up and change in atmosphere. Thanks smile

Love the state fairs. I go the Kentucky State Fair every year in Louisville. Love the animal pavilion and the all the hand created displays. They even have a "tackiest" (my description because they are) Christmas tree exhibit. I love it.

And I haven't ridden a carnival ride in years and years... for the exact same upchucking reasons you mentioned. I chose to retain my manly dignity in public after the last scene I created. Whew.... triggered!

Fun again, Gary. Thanks for sharing the memories.
