Donuts are my enemy- especially in the morning on the way into work.

I used to get a large cappacino and two or three donuts and muffins. I would be so full, then break @ 10 and more food, lunch then a snack on the way home to tide me over till supper. A late night snack and off to bed. I was unhealthy emotionally and physically, the one triggering the other. When I would feel lonely, isolated or treated unfairly I would make a large dent in our groceries.
While most of that has lost its hold on me, I wished I could have understood it sooner. Thankfully it is now being put in front of professionals as a disorder, an identifiable issue that can lead to the underlying abuse trauma .

I'm doing quite well in not eating rubbish in the morning or at lunch now, I usually stop by the donuts/cookies section and consider it, walk away to another section and come back, and do that a few times until I can convince myself not to buy any.
I'm actually quite athletic in physique, but that's because I have a good metabolism, I know as I get older my metabolism will get worse, so I need to stop eating so much rubbish now. I think replacing your periods where you want to binge eat with drinking a nice cup of tea or something might help.
