"Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity."
http://www.biblegateway.com/audio/mclean/kjv/Eccl.1

ecclesiastes is very powerful and a great source of comfort to me.
one of my favourite books.

remember though... it was written by Solomon... Solomon was only a man... plus... he did not have the Gospels (Jesus) to guide him.

"The old testament is the new concealed.
The new testament is the old revealed."
something I was taught at bible study that makes a lot of sense.

Right now the most important part of my healing is weeding out the delusions that are in my mind. Believing in promises that can't be trusted aren't going to motivate me to do my own healing. I am wiping the slate clean and looking at the world with fresh eyes, and seeing what conclusions come forth from looking at the evidence with no preconceptions.

Wiping the slate clean of what exactly?
2 Cor 5:17 is clear, once we have accepted Christ we are made brand new. The old is dead. We can not serve 2 masters. It is either death or life, good or bad. This is what the scripture says not what I say.
The evidence for me is clear and it has withstood the test of time and any test thrown at it. But each person has to choose their own path. So I respect your right to do what you choose with your own free will. Take care brother.

Past delusions. Relying on promises that will never be kept. Relying on emotional sensation instead of evidence about what I really need to do to heal. Relying on someone else to rescue me when there is no reason to think that will happen. Relying on someone else to provide me with worth. Those kind of things.

True. We are responsible for our own thoughts and actions. It is our own actions that we stand accountable for. We must choose what or whom we serve and what we give priority. Take care bro

you know, jacob s, something you posted really resonated with me. when i was a teenager, i used to make fun of the lord's prayer.
i can totally relate.

i would start with...

our father, who aren't in heaven,
hollow be thy name.

this was before i made peace with my creator and truly thanked him for this gift of life, no matter how difficult it has been.

I had a big reply written to this, but I'm holding back on whether or not to post it. Suffice it to say, Jacob, I've been where you are right now.
