I love that Sunscreen song, but I always forget who it's by and I can never find it when I go to look for it.

Can't really think of anything good to add. Most of the songs I listen to are depressing, but I'll come back if I find anything feel good. Some songs, it's not really about the song, it's more about what you were doing when you heard it that makes it have a feel good feeling.

I was listening to this earlier as I was driving to the gym. It just pumps me up and fills me with euphoria. This is the kind of song that it's extremely difficult to listen to in the car and not speed. LOL!

Jane's Addiction - Mountain Song.

Eno is the onE

atari...
you are probably the first person i have met that has ever heard of Klaus Nomi.

he was a man ahead of his time.

i was very surprised and saddened when he died.
it seemed rather sudden.
he was only 39.

by the way,
here is the original Lightning Strikes
just for kicks

Klaus nomi was a casualty of the aids epidemic in the early 1980's. He was one of the greatest artist who never was. frown

I love Lou Christie's version as well.

Here's some more Nomi just for fun too. laugh

that WAS fun...

while i was listening to that song, i found this on the same page!

i have never seen this before... so it was quite exciting to discover.

thought i would share it with you.

i used to have the old 7" 45 RPM single to "space oddity" way back in the 1970's and this song was on the B-Side.
this live version, however, features Bowie and Nomi.
i never knew they worked together, but it makes perfect sense.

i worked with bowie once, in 1997.
i even met him. i said... "where would you like your mirror, mr. bowie"
he said, "over there, thanks" and that was it.

he was nice enough to drop by the crew room after the show,
just to pop his head in the door and say thanks to all of us.
i do remember him as being a lot smaller than i had imagined.

anyway... the show blew me away, and i peaked (no drugs) during his performance of "fashion".

more info on the show.

What a great thread...

Like many here at MS I escaped into music (playing and listening) as a way of escaping the feelings (or lack there of) associated with csa. There are songs I remember from before the abuse that instantly make me feel good (oldies for sure) and others I associate with the time frame of the abuse that instantly make me feel sad, hurt, angry, depressed, or a combination of any or all.

I am very fortunate to have married a wonderful woman who is a survivor also and for the last several months since I disclosed to her we have been working through our healing together.

Here is a link to what has become our favorite song and reflects our feelings for one another, especially at this time in our lives. To those of you who have an understanding and supportive partner you'll appreciate it. To those who may not be blessed with such it may seem sappy and sentimental. Either way it is a great, soulful, blues masterpiece by two of the most talented performers around today. Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart--"I'll Take Care Of You".

For those of you who are familiar with JB, he is coming to the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, GA on November 20, 2013. This is a chance to see one of the greatest guitarists of all time in a relatively small venue, i.e there really are no bad seats. I have my tickets and if you're anywhere nearby you should get some too. It promises to be a fabulous show.

Thanks again for a great thread...enjoy!

Dude

Victor-Victim,

I have seen the Bowie-Nomi SNL show before.

The sad part of the story is that Bowie and his people said they'd be in touch with Klaus after SNL. Klaus and his people never heard from Bowie again. frown

Hey V-V,

Beth Hart is something indeed! I had never heard of her either until I got the Joe Bonamassa live at Beacon Theater. After that I was like you--gotta have more Beth! I bought the Live at Paradiso but was disappointed, not in the music but the fact that she couldn't seem to get through a song without dropping the F-bomb. I know at that time she was only 16 months sober and was in a transitional period. Believe me, I'm no prude but for me the language really detracts from her massive talent. It just adds nothing to the music. Her look is more polished now since she and JB hooked up and so is his. Her vocals are still as powerful and raw but being sober seems to have allowed her more control over those wonderful pipes. Either way she is one talented lady who has really been put through the wringer and came out clean on the other side. Her story is very inspirational, at least for wifey and me.

Since we are talking about feel good songs here's a bittersweet memory for me from 1972. Let's see if we can spot the over 50's in the thread! Anyone remember Mouth & MacNeal? It's a goofy song I know but I remember it from a time in my childhood when I was still happy and innocent, just before the csa started. The song makes me smile but it also makes me long for a time when I didn't know the things I know now.
