Under "Who's Online" I often see 1 or more Spiders. What in the world is a “Spider”?
Also, what is a “Junior Member”?
And what’s it mean to be “Invisible”?
Do you have other unique designations here?

Hey Blacken,
I've found that "Spider" is a program that automatically fetches Web pages, that means that someone is visiting MS trough such program.
"Junior member" - I'm not sure where have you seen that?
"Invisible" - means that such member has chosen to be invisible for others while he is on line at MS. It is possible to adjust this option if you go to My stuff and than Edit preferences - there is question Hide from Who's Online?
I hope some other experienced members would help with additional answers....
Be well!

Pero

Hey blacken,
I've found what are "Junior member". As this site is active for long time some things are remnants of past times smile
So in the past there was part of the board for people under 18 years of age and those were "Junior members", and they needed to have mentors - those were usually moderators.

Hey Pero

That's not really correct, I mean, I'm a Junior Member, but I entered the site about 6 years ago at 22yrs of age, didn't needed a mentor at that time.
I think Junior Members are just people who are already on here for a substantial time, but without having paid for the actual membership.

Guys I have some new insight related to "Junior Member" status. I found that many years ago the software updated users status by the amount of posts they had and started with Junior Member, so it is like relict from those times...

My understanding is that a Junior Member is a person that was granted membership rights (i.e member forum access) without requiring a financial payment (usually for those that did not have the means to pay membership fess).

Junior Member is a relic for a previous version of the discussion board software we used. That software counted the number of posts and keep a user in Junior Member status until a threshold number of posts were made. It is not related to age or membership payment.
