I haven't seen the movie, but I read the book. It was a very interesting set of circumstances that lead me to reading the book. I saw it in an airport bookstore, and despite not knowing a thing about it, not even knowing it had been made into a movie, it piqued my interest. I had to buy it and I did. When I read it, I could easily identify with the main character. He reminded me of Holden Caulfield, the protagonist in Catcher in the Rye. I'm not going to say that the main character reminded me of myself in my teen years, or that I wanted to be like him, but I could definitely relate to his life, his experiences, and his reactions to life. At the end, when the secret of his CSA came to light, I was very moved. I guess I could relate because I knew that could have easily been me. That book has been very influential on me and it has helped me understand my past better. It's a very powerful book and definitely worth reading.
