Anything by CCR is cool,
but today the song playing is,
GORDON LIGHTFOOT-- I can see her lyin' back in her SATIN dress In a room where ya do what ya don't confess Sundown ya better take care If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs Sundown ya better take care If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs She's been lookin' like a queen in a sailor's dream And she don't always say what she really means Sometimes I think it's a shame When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain Sometimes I think it's a shame When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain
I can picture every move that a man could make Getting lost in her lovin' is your first mistake Sundown ya better take care If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs Sometimes I think it's a sin When I feel like I'm winnin' when I'm losin again
I can see her lookin' fast in her faded jeans She's a hard lovin' woman, got me feelin' mean Sometimes I think it's a shame When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain Sundown ya better take care If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs Sundown ya better take care If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs Sometimes I think it's a sin When I feel like I'm winnin' when I'm losin' again

Good stuff Will! Also love that Gordon Lightfoot song.
To describe my taste in music, I'd have to list stuff I don't like, because it would be a much shorter list. Don't really like country. Don't really like much rap and no rap that's come out in the last 15 years. Don't like most modern top 40/pop. Other than that, I like EVERYTHING. From Simon and Garfunkle to Slipknot. From R.E.M. to the Beatie Boys to the Chemical Brothers to NOFX to The Cure to Pink Floyd. Like classical music. Blues and jazz is cool. Everything. At heart I'm an old metalhead though.
This is the song that I used lyrics from for my siggie quote. To me, it is as melodic as it is dark and angry. Maybe my favorite metal song. I can loose myself in this.....

Ken,
We're obviously dipping from the same well. I wasn't too much of a metal head though. To be sure, I listened to some metal...sprinkled in with everything else from 70s singer/songwriters and the end of the big AM Top 40 era---Widespread Panic----R.E.M.----80s alternative---Grunge----old Rolling Stones---The Cure--Drivin N Cryin----The Smithereens----Jane's Addiction---The Dandy Warhols----The Black Keys---plus classical and blues.
I'm with you on country----outside of maybe Johnny Cash and some Dwight Yoakam. Modern pop is miserable gruel.
Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" just came up on my iPod. Before that was Queensryche's "Eyes of a Stranger." Earlier was Yo-Yo Ma and a cello piece. Go figure.
Here's a favorite driving song:
Will

Pre-Black Album Metallica is among my favorite music of all time. Up there with Pink Floyd and The Doors. Apples to Oranges I know but it's the stuff I love.
The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways Like a vision she dances across the porch As the radio plays Roy Orbison singing for the lonely Hey that's me and I want you only Don't turn me home again I just can't face myself alone again Don't run back inside Darling you know just what Im here for So you're scared and you're thinking That maybe we aint that young anymore Show a little faith, there's magic in the night You aint a beauty, but hey you're alright Oh and that's alright with me
You can hide `neath your covers And study your pain Make crosses from your lovers Throw roses in the rain Waste your summer praying in vain For a savior to rise from these streets Well now I'm no hero That's understood All the redemption I can offer, girl Is beneath this dirty hood With a chance to make it good somehow Hey what else can we do now? Except roll down the window And let the wind blow Back your hair Well the nights busting open These two lanes will take us anywhere We got one last chance to make it real To trade in these wings on some wheels Climb in back Heavens waiting on down the tracks Oh-oh come take my hand Riding out tonight to case the promised land Oh-oh thunder road, oh thunder road oh thunder road Lying out there like a killer in the sun Hey I know it's late we can make it if we run Oh thunder road, sit tight take hold Thunder road
Well I got this guitar And I learned how to make it talk And my cars out back If you're ready to take that long walk From your front porch to my front seat The doors open but the ride it aint free And I know you're lonely For words that I aint spoken But tonight we'll be free All the promises'll be broken There were ghosts in the eyes Of all the boys you sent away They haunt this dusty beach road in the skeleton frames of burned out chevrolets
They scream your name at night in the street Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet And in the lonely cool before dawn You hear their engines roaring on But when you get to the porch they're gone On the wind, so mary climb in Its a town full of losers And Im pulling out of here to win.
