LAD, as you know, I struggle with this same terrible demon. The PhD that is advising me on my upcoming EMDR says the naltrexone reverses dissociative amnesia and recovers memories... but I have not gone on the naltrexone yet, so not sure about that one yet. pufferfish Moderator MaleSurvivor Registered: 02/26/08 Posts: 6159 Loc: USA	Yes There are apparently different types of hypnotherapy. My T used what he calls "deep relaxation". Just as the name suggests, it is a systematic relaxation of body muscles. The will is not given over and the client can pull out of it at any time. But the deep relaxation allows memories to surface. It was under this technique that I remembered the events of Pufferfish story part 1, at ages 3 and 4. Puffer Edited by pufferfish (03/12/13 09:27 PM)

Recreating the abuse is recreating the brain chemistry. Naltrexone stops the brain from reacting to these endogenic opioids the same way it blocks exogenic opioids like heroin from chemically bonding with the brain -- apparently. It's an interesting theory that makes sense to me. It explains cutting and other self-harm as a way to jack up our endogenic opioid production. We're addicted to the brain chemistry caused by the abuse and seek out bad situations to get our bodies to react the same way. Anyway... yes, naltrexone is what I'm about to try. As soon as my T sends a note to my primary care doc saying that she is going to oversee my usage. As a former heroin addict and a cutter... that makes a lot of sense. Amazing. I'm curious though - they I have it is that Naltrexone also blocks your body's natural endorphins, leaving your body aching all-over... but that is at the kind of doses they give to reverse an OD, so possibly a therapeutic dose would be smaller and not have this side-effect... Dunno.
