Disgraced Los Angeles Archbishop Mahoney resigned 2 years ago over his role in covering up sexual abuse of boys by priests in his diocese, and was publicly rebuked and stripped of his duties by his successor Archbishop Gomez.
Nevertheless, Mahoney remains a member of the College of Cardinals and
will vote in the selection of the successor to Pope Benedict. Apparently nothing has been learned by the Catholic hierarchy.
